Ramdom Thoughts From The Road

Just got home from a 1500 mile trip, had to move some stuff for our oldest son. Why is it the smaller the car the more they think they own the whole road not just one lane?

Does no one know how to judge speed?

Or what about closing speeds?

Pulling a trailer in the East Tn mountians can be a real challenge with some of these people on the road.

One guy took 60 miles to finally decide to pull off after slowing me down 4 or 5 times and almost getting run over by 2 or 3 big trucks when he cut them off.

Sorry about the rant but it just gets to me when I make a trip like this and seen some of the dumb things people do.

I did see a Dodge station wagon, that had duels on it and it sounded great when he passed me, and after he got passed me he pulled out to pass a truck and he kicked into it and it had a nice rumble to it.

I drove down to Houston last weekend, and it's a good thing I didn't take any of my guns with me.

There would have been bodies EVERYWHERE.

HOUSTON... what a pleasure. That has to be thw worst town I ever drove in by far.

Any GTO finding luck?

Nothing decent at a reasonable price.

And Chicago is much, MUCH worse to drive in. It's like Houston...But throw in roads so bad it's like being OFF road most of the time.

consider yourself lucky - up in the pacific north west - large Asian community with Kia's and Hyundai's -nothing specifically wrong with either race/manufacture - but either playing chicken or lacking depth perception will cause someone to hurt and someone with a new hood ornament ..

Come out to the country Mike. I used to live in Naperville and wanted to hurt people constantly. Now the only thing I slow down for is to watch the deer.

Houston is pretty bad, but it's somewhat good compared to most places. 2 years ago I went to Alabama... Let me just say that I'm surprised that I didn't crap my pants.

Last summer I went to Prescott, Arizona and the people there do the craziest things. Part of it is the city's fault. There isn't much in the way of stoplights and stop signs so the people just drive all over the road when they turn, even if there is oncoming traffic.

I also went to Tulsa last summer and that was crazy. Downtown, there are almost no signs to help you get places so people are flying down the inner city roads at 70 mph and crossing 3 lanes at a time to make their exit. All the cars on the road around you will be in a completely different arrangement around you in literally 2 seconds. I'm glad I didn't choose to go to college there.

Come out here. The police chief doesn't follow the rules of the road. . .ever. No turning signals, 50 in a 30. 20 in a 50. You see almost all of it here. Except people running stop signs/lights. We have none.

I can't remember the last time I saw a local cop use a turning signal.

Sounds like drivers are idiots everywhere you go. I guess you can't expect the 85% of the population that is brain dead to do very well behind the wheel.

People are such idiots.

A long time ago an old man told me "Turkeys are NOT the dumbest thing on earth... PEOPLE are."

Come to think of it... He was the same guy that told me "No good deed goes unpunished"

Everytime I go on a road trip, I always have some idiot shadowing me because I have a radar detector. The last time it happened, I slowed down to 50 and they were still on my tail. I opened her up and left the idiots behind. I slowed down and they ended up passing me in favor of an 18-wheeler who was really moving. I kept my distance, but matched their speed. This guy was really close to the 18-wheeler for a few miles. The driver got fet up with his shadow and hit the brakes locking them up at about 80mph! The car shot over to the shoulder and I'm not sure why, but I think it was to change their pants!

My observation, If it applies here....

While driving one day I was stuck behind an older gentlemen driving in a Mitsubishi Gallant......Why...well in the rear window he had a hat the stated WWII Pearl Harbor survivor.

What is funny here is that when the Japanese attacked Pearl harbor they were flying airplanes called "zeros" these planes had Mitsubishi Engines in them...yes...Mitsubishi.

Is something wrong here!
