Used 07.5 Dmax

My wife and I are slightly paranoid about our research on the 07.5 and 08 DMax and all the reports of the dreaded "limp mode".

 

Needless to say, we're a bit leary of having a problem while on the highway, miles from help. I later read some posts suggesting a code reader so the codes can at least be re-set and hopefully cleared at least until professional help can be found.

 

Since the 07.5 and 08 LMM diesel is so new, I wonder if the current code readers like this one:

will be able to read the truck's codes since it was made prior to the NBS truck. You'll notice that the reader claims to have live computer updates, but upon further investigation I learned that this is not necessarily available yet (unconfirmed source).

 

The CP9175 is priced right for our budget, but your suggestions and feedback is much appreciated if you know of a better alternative for my needs!

Be sure it is CAN bus compatable. It is the new communication protocol in all new vehicles.
