More Instrument Cluster Help

I just got a 2001 cluster off ebay with a trans temp guage to put in my 1500 series that doesn't have the trans temp guague. Looking at the replacement cluster today after opening the package, it looks like it all comes off in modules or sections. I see how the clips let you almost take off layers, the face, guages, circuit board etc.

 

Is there any way to just take the guage out of the new cluster and put in the 1500 cluster or swap the actual odomoters? Don't know exactley where the milage is stored in the circuit board or chip somewhere? This way I wouldn't have to the miles reprogrammed.

 

Thanks for your thoughts on how to adapt what I have already

According to the posts from the GM techs around here its

stored in the cluster !
