hello all I'm new to the board. Great site ive look around a little, lots of good info. I have a question for yall, is there a site that I can enter my vin and it will tell me what recalls have been aor need to be taken care on my particular truck. thanx

National Highway Traffic Administration has a bunch of information. Recalls are for safety issues only. I think they also list TSB's but not in detail.

 

TSB or Technical Service Bulletins are dealer only. TSB's can be purchased online for a fee from Alldata. www.alldata.com

 

Any dealer can scan your VIN and tell if there is a recall.

Don't waste your time stopping by the dealer! They are usually clueless and give "lookieloos"

the blowoff! The NHTSA site is ok but a pain to navigate ! Alldata and other like sites are no

longer free!

 

Best way is to call the Chevy customer service 1 800 222 1020

Have your vin # ready and they will tell you of any recalls, TSBs, updates etc. FREE and

set you up with a local dealer to have them taken care of !

All in the comfort of your living room and within reach of your cold beer!

I agree, it's best to call the customer service number. They'll know all the recalls that apply to your particular truck AND be able to tell you if the work has been performed on that truck or not.

This is probably i dumb question but are recalls or tsb's only fixed if your truck is still under warrenty? or is it say i have my 02 and there is a recall on something would they still fix it free of charge?

Recalls are safety mandated, and therefore, do not fall under warranty limitations. TSBs, are not safety mandated, and may or may not be covered within the warranty period, depending on the purpose of the TSB.

Also, some states have an "IMPLIED WARRANTY" law.

 

Kind of murky but sometimes applies.
