New Oem Nav Unit, Low Volume

Recommended Posts

I installed a DVD/Nav OEM unit in my Silverado. I do not have BOSE sound system. Dealer did the Tech II VIN Re-learn, and now the volume is very, very low. They said they made sure they entered "does not have Y91" I can't even hear anything with OnStar. The dealer is going to contact GM Tech support on Monday, and get back with me. Anyone else have any ideas on what may be wrong? If it is a situation, where I need an AMP, is that going to also fix the OnStar? (thought OnStar only went through the little speakers on A pillars?)

It is my understanding that the OEM nav unit usually has the external amp attached.....if it internal, have them check it to see if it is outputting the correct

Well, that what I was kind of thinking. The volume was what I would imagine it to be, for a radio that had speakers attached to the pre-amp out puts. Looks then like I might get a PAC2 4 channel, and a 4 channel amplifier to make it all work correctly.

That is exactly your problem. The factgory NAV system is designed for the Bose system. If your truck is non-Bose, you have to either get the Bose amp, wiring, etc., or do as you talked about and get a line level adapter and install your own amp.

I got the bose system with the floor console that I just got, I will take pictures and show you what I have, if you want the amp and wiring......I sure as hell dont want to mess with it..........
