Free Toolbox Offer For Business Owners...

Recommended Posts

Well, I purchased a new 2008 Silverado Crew Cab a few weeks ago. The salesman mentioned that I could get a free toolbox if I owned a business. Well, when it came down to it, he said I did not qualify. I checked online, and I found the offer, and it turns out I do qualify. I went back to the dealer, and they went ahead and ordered it. I chose the toolbox that mounts in the cargo management system rails and the two side toolboxes that go on the rail as well. You actually have several choices. This offer is good on both GM and Silverado trucks! If you encounter a dealer that does not want to honor the deal, be persistent. Any business qualifies. Good Luck!

My dealer had no clue about the business-owners package when I bought my truck. I got him the info and he got it ordered, took about a week to get it in. I got the same setup as you. I don't use the saddlebag boxes though. They take up too much room in the 5.5' bed.

It looks like you can also choose a $500 Lowes or Best Buy gift card instead of the tool box? I have an LLC listed with the state of Ohio but am not curently doing anything with it. Think this would fly ?

Awesome! I bet they look great on your truck. I'm glad they gave it to me for free. If they hadn't, I would have probably purchased it myself. It an $1100.00 free upgrade! I hope they can make this thread a sticky so that more potential owners can know about this deal, and ask for their toolbox or equipment upgrade.

All you need is proof of having a business. Take your 2006 tax return, business cards or whatever you may have , and you should be fine. Don't let them tell you that you do not qualify. The dealer did not ask me anything after I took him my tax return.

I don't really have a going business at the moment, just a Limited Liability Corporation filed with the state. I can produce the state certificate. I emailed my delaer earlier with the following response. Is this correct:

"As far as the Business Choice program it has to be done at time of delivery as it is an incentive. Also it has to be titled in the company name so there is no way we can do that now."

Bulls**t !

As I have stated repeatedly, the Business Choice Program is open to all who have any business.

I contacted GM directly by email. I had to inform all/every dealer of the requirements. The average salesman knows zilch about this and could care less.

Therefore, I was advised to always ask for the fleet saleman/person as that person has been trained in the Business Choice Program. It has nothing to do with fleet sales. Just the training.

I purchased my 2008 dealing with a fleet salesman. Here is the website.

Some dealerships are a little lax on the requirements. If someone found a dealer who just accepted a business card - well, good luck.

Here, they ask for more proof. I have no tax records with company name. I did register a company - self-employed with my state.

There are so many out there that are missing all this free stuff. I took the $500.00 Lowe's card.

Every dealer except the last one stated quite clearly, that an individual as myself could not purchase this truck with this color with these options. One even argued with me and told me GM was wrong!

"Sir, you can't order a green truck. That color is not offered in 2008"

"Sir, you can't order a green truck as you have to order 5 at one time." Well, I ordered only one.

"Sir, you have to title truck in the company name." No, not true. Truck is titled in my birth certificate name.

Do your homework before purchasing.

The proof is in the pudding.

If you go to the GM website, all you have to do is prove that you have a business. Now, GM knows that there are a lot of ways to prove that you have a business, so they do not specify exactly what you need. I personally took my tax return from 2006 and a business card. I have met other that simply submitted a business card and a letterhead. If you just started your business, then you may not have filed for taxes yet. You can probably take a copy of your state sales tax certificate, and that, in my opinion also proves you have a business. As for only being able to get it at the time of purchase, the program stipulates that you must take possession of the "uplift" during the program time. The program is still available, and I requested my toolbox 4 weeks after I purchased the truck. Don't email the dealer, print yourself a copy of the add, and tell the dealer that you have spoken to GM, and that you do qualify for this program. Choose whatever you like, and make the dealer place an order. Ask to talk to the manager, or even the owner if they do not honor your request. You are entitled to the free stuff. By the way, the truck does not have to be titles in the business name. My truck is titled in my name. No mention of the business. Good Luck, and don't let them rip you off.

Thankfully, I saw this thread. I had already purchased my Silverado in my name, and wanted to get one of the smaller side storage boxes. Turns out, I got two of them plus the ladder rack for free! I only haul the ladders around two or three times per year, but they are 32 foot ladders, and with the cargo management system, should be much easier to put in/take out.

I was looking at the information ....but I don't see the Silverado listed as one of the elegible vehicles, all I see are GMC....I know some of you have stated that you have bought a Silverado ...I just bought one too and own my own business and would love to send this info to the dealership to see if I qualify....Can someone let me know if the Silverado does qualify.

I think I just found the info I was looking for.....I didn't pay attention when I clicked on the link provided that it was GMC...here is a link that might help

Do you have to sign up somewhere before going to the dealership.....or do you just let them know about being a business owner

Does anyone know if it is certain models....I got the LTZ and I am wondering if the dealership will say that it has to be the work truck.

I am also wondering if this can be combined with their other offers....for instance I took the 2.9% finance rate instead of the cash back...wondering if the dealership will say that we would have to have chosen one or the other.

So did any of ya'll that got this toolbox also get the other offers ...like cash back or low interest rate....I just read the website and it said it might not be available with other offers.....said to check with dealer....just wanted to see if anyone had combined any deals with this before I talk to them tomorrow.

I took the 2.9% interest rate, and also a GM Supplier Discount, so yes, you can combine them.

Also, the offer is good on all trim levels of the models. I have an LTZ. The dealer initially said that the truck wasn't registered in my name so it wouldn't qualifiy, and I told him it didn't have to be - he then ordered the gear.

Thanks to everyone for this thread!!!
