Thinking About Some New Wheels

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of getting some different wheels, I like the moto metals like below. Anyone have any pics of them on a GMC truck?? I'm not sure yet if I'll go with 18" or 20" wrapped in nitto terra grapplers. Maybe someone would like to buy the ones on my truck now??

I almost bought the Moto Metal 951's. But BOTH dealers I was dealing with talked me out of them due to them having crappy center caps. They both strongly recommended the Ultra "Lightning" instead which is nearly identical to the 951.

Here are a couple of comparison pics:

These pics appear to be of different diameters, the Ultra's look bigger in dia due to the longer spokes. I went with 18's, which look more like the 951 pics. Less "busy" though IMO, not so many fake bolts around the bead perimeter.

I really like the 956s. Those in 18" with a good A/T would look great. However, my favorite wheels posted in this thread thus far are the current wheels on your truck. Those look awesome, in my opinion. I'd trade mine in a heartbeat for what you're looking to replace.

Ya I know, I can't decide if I should keep my wheels and just get the more "truck" like nitto's or get everything new. Definatly would cost me less money to just replace the tires.

FYI for anybody looking the tires are cooper ATR 275-55-20 with about 3000 miles on them.

Vmax 2007, I like your setup, just can't decide between new wheels and tires or just new tires. :D

Controller, I really Like your rims as well. I think if it was me I would just get rid of the little rubber and put some bigger stuff on them. Those are some sweet rims....

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments, it all helps me decide what to do, besides who else's opinions matter more than truck guys. :D

I agree, not worth switching out the rims. Go with a 285/60/20 AT tire like the Nitto or the Toyo open Country and lose the white lettering. That will totally change your look. You'll go from a 31.9' tall tire to a 33.5" tall tire gaining almost an inch in truck height and filling those wells.

I know I am interested in your set but if I were you I would just get a bigger set of tires and sell you old tires on craigslist or ebay and make up some of the money spent on the bigger tires. I like your rims alot that is why I am interested in your set but I would highly recommend just get new tires!!! I would recommand BFG at's or a set of Nitto TG. Both are great tires but I like my white letters so I would say BFG!!

I agree the rims you have are nice! I went with 275/60r20 on the new wheels I ordered, gives it another inch over the 275/55s, so that size or the 285s would look great on yours! Very nice truck!
