I got the red ring of death today :chevy: , i already looked at some websites on symptoms, and some certain lights turn on due to different symptons, but none explain which quadrant is which(due to the fact that you can play with it standing or laying it down). I have mine standing and the top left, bottom left, bottom right lights are blinking red. Please help. Thanks. :D

Your x-box is dead, the red rings of death mean system failure most likely caused from overheating. And now the newer models are doing the same thing since they refused to fix the real cause of the problems which is the gpu not the cpu.

So glad i picked the ps3, especially now with blu-ray winning the format war, the x-box is already limiting developers to what they can do with the cheap dvd drive and having to code for the cheap people who didnt opt for the hard drive and only bought the core setup. I will not have to worry about this since sony has included these into the cost of the machine and does not nickle and dime you to death with the extra add-ons.

I thought I had the RRoD once. Turns out I didn't have my video cable plugged in and that caused a Red Ring Warning.

Yeah I got it the first time I turned mine on but like the other guy i found that my video cable was not plugged in. Also I would never buy a PS3, they are worthless. No good games, the same exact crappy controllers from the PS2 and also its fricken huge! Furthermore, most people can not even use the ability to play blueray because either their TV can not support it or just because the PS3 is not shipped with HDMI cables! Ok Im done. Sorry to hear about your 360.

Spoken like a true turd-box fanboi that is completely clueless, oh well enjoy the three week wait to get your x-box back, oh and save the box for when it happens again in another couple months. And yeah having to spend 10 bucks on a hdmi cable was horrible, i much rather would have spent the 430 for a elite/ 100 for wireless net/ and 200 for a now dead hd format which will be nothing but paper a weight drive! :dunno:

"True turd-box fanboi" Thats a new one. I am not clueless I was merely stating my opinion of the PS3. Granted i do think the touch sensitive controls are cool on the PS3 and it looks pretty cool, but I do not like the games. Name two games that are extremely popular and have been highly regarded as some of the best games of the past years. I will name two for the 360, Gears of War and the Halo series. Also now the xbox will be getting Grand theft Auto. Furthermore I have never had to send my xbox to get repaired even though I have owned it since May of the year it came out. Also I dont think the HD drive was very popular in the first place, I never bought one. Also I have played a PS3, one of my friends has one and he barely ever uses it because he playes his 360 so much more.

Kind of like sony did with the PS2? No memory at all. The PS3 is a copy of the xbox with better graphics IMO, only slightly better than the 360..... if your tv can support it.

I agree the best games are on Xbox, and there is no way of getting them on PS.

Blu-ray......... HD dvd, who cares....They will both be obsolete within a few years anyhow. I use my computer for internet, my gaming system for gaming, my cd player for cd's, my ipod for mp4's, and my dvd player for dvd's. The reason these systems have everything in one, now including internet is for kids who only have their bedroom for their small entertainment space and dorm rooms.

Nothing wrong with the PS3, but they are years behind the 360 as far as games and fanbase. Too many years sitting on the PS2.

As for the original question, if/when you get a new one, lay it down instead of standing it up. Always problems standing them up. The PS2 was the same way. My buddy went through 2 PS2's just because of dust and heat problems. I hope you get it figured out because you have the best gaming platform available IMO.

I had the same problem out of the box. Took it back, got a new one and it froze all the time. Sent it out, got it fixed good to go. Also agree with others keep it layin down. I kept mine vertical nothin but probs, layin down no issues.
