I found a parts website called rockauto.com. They have great prices and they also carry a LOT of oem and delco parts. Has anyone dealt with them before? I ran a search on here and found a post where 2 people reccomended them. Anyone else dealt with them before? Have you had an good or bad experience? On a scale from 1-10, how would you rate them overall, and on prices, on shipping, and on customer service?

I have, 3 purchases so far. Very good in my book. My biggest order was brake pads and rotors for my impala. Shipping has been very prompt (no longer than 7 days) for my orders. Would I order from them again definitely

have order alot of parts for my 1993 cavalier and 2001 cavalier....good shipping and great selection....all the orders are very accurate, packaging is good, the only thing that I dont like is when I am ordering special parts, the price of the shipping can go up higher than competitors. I have stuck with them because of the larger selection of parts that I normally get at lower prices.

I have ordered numerous parts from them, even had to return some, and did so with no problem. Awesome selection and lowest prices I've seen. I try them first before anywhere else on the net.

Just another rockauto story

I ordered brake pads and rotors for my Impala on Thursday night (10pm) 7/17. They just arrived on Saturday 7/19 at 12 pm. This was with regular shipping. I am still waiting on my replacement fog light assy but this was pretty fast for 75% of my order.

I too have used them and am happy with the products and service.

One think you should know though is to always check what brands you are ordering and if possible, stick with the same brands or you will find yourself with a lot of extra shipping. Also, when ordering multiple parts make sure you know local costs. I ordered two sets of front end components for trucks last year. I was going to get a center link in the order but the shipping was an extra $12 just for the center link. The part was only $10 cheaper than local so I bought local instead.

Also, if you are ordering A/C delco stuff it may pay to have a friendship with a local parts store. When you call the dealerships tell them you are with so and so auyto parts and ask for the trade discount. Many times this discount will save you $$ and get you parts cheaper than you can get them at Rockauto or GM Parts direct.

I'm indifferent about them. I bought (or attempted to) a replacement driver side rear bumper trim molding and the first time I received a random, stick on molding (I think for the rear of a rear fender) for a '97-99 DeVille, then I received a random bumper molding that looked very similar but was the wrong part. They let me keep the parts and refunded my money, but it was a little annoying. I suppose I'll eventually sell the two trim pieces on eBay.

I have had great success with them, the only problem is that they start to not carry parts for some of the older vehicles (like 1994 and earlier.) Other than that I have only had good experiences.

I've used them and was satisfied. Had to get a replacement sideview mirror for my daughters car, they definately had the best price!

Used them a bit as well. I did order a passenger and driver side window and recieved two driver's side. The boxes were labeled accordingly, but someone had put a driver's side in a pasenger box. I just was the unlucky one to get it. They told me to keep the mirror assembly and sent me out another passenger mirror the next day.

I've been using them quite a bit lately. I bought shocks, and all of my exhaust components for my DD Yota, saved me a ton of money, and I just ordered new belts for my Silvy and I am paying the same amount for both belts, serpentine and AC, Gates brand, shipped, as I would for just the serpentine from O'Reilly.

I will definately keep buying from them.

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
