A/c Control Panel Bulbs...

I have lost all the lighting behind the control panel for my a/c-heat...are the bulbs replaceable? How do you replace them?

Bump. I'd like to know too. Half of mine go on and off randomly.

Probably means that they are soldered on. Can you pop the module out and just re-solder bulbs that work on it?

Yes, they can be replaced. Dealers do not do this and they don't recommend it either, they recommend replaceing the whole unit. Kind of like the ABS module, replace at 800$ rather than repair for 10$. You can disassemble it, and solder out/in bulbs.

Ditto, It's not that hard to do if you have a steady hand, just make sure you get the solder melted enough before you pull on the bulb or else the foil can pull off making like alot harder. I used led's off ebay that came with resistors.

Id just buy a new AC Control off ebay. Mine work fine in my AC. None worked in my radio. I soldered new ones in and fd something up and shorted out my headlight switch and radio and I made sure not to cross circuits. Id just buy one, so much easier.

I got my headlight switch for 7.99 shipped because the guy had a listing error and I made out pretty good lol. The radio I found the cheapest Delco CD I could find, which was 65 shipped. Most go for 70+ and not including shipping. I couldnt believe it didnt blow the radio fuse, it just blew the switch out.

Hey fellas,

I tried the route of buying one off eBay and those lights were blown as well so I said F___ IT  and decided to replace mine with LEDs (and they work great). If you don't want that kind of soldering hastle, you can buy the replacement bulbs from Radio Shack. I am not sure of the part # or the wattage of the bulbs but I have seen guys pick them up there and just re-solder the new bulbs to the circuirt board. If you are just going to replace the bulbs with the same ones, the jobs is pretty easy. Just pull out the controller, separate the two circuit boards (2000-2002 I am sure of), put some heat to the solder where the old bulbs are set, pull the old bulbs out and solder the new ones in place. Everything should be good to go then. :D

You can take a look at the circuit board from my Car Domain website under my sig.

Hope this helps!

I think they're wired in parallel, so if one in that series goes out they all will... but I don't really remember.

Interesting sidenote, my headligh switch is messed too, well just the dimmer part, so I had to solder it so that it's always on full bright...

Is it normal for them to all go out at once?

Not sure because I had only a few go out. Again, the process is relatively easy to do. If you have any questions, PM and I will try to help you out.

Had the same problem with the light on the HVAC controls going out but also would randomly lose the controls that was an expensive day. But, my question is how do you remove the sliders from a Dual Zone control, I could not get mine to come off.

They might come off like my wife's old Toyota Corolla. I would try "lightly" to grab them with a pair of pliers and see if you can pull them straight off. I would really be careful though because I'm not sure how they come off.
