Well i was talking to my parents, and for my birthday ill probably be getting a moped to drive around for a while (summer) and save money so i can restore my truck..... well actually have somebody else do it so it turns out right lol...

im having new Cab corners, Rockers, Fenders, Rear Wheels arches.. new gears... and im sure a few more things as i go along.......

im also taking off my bug shield, vent visors, rocker panels, trim. (theses things are just asking to fall off, look crappy...) so the less stuff i have i the less i will have problems with..

im pretty much going to restore it to a really nice truck that i am going to very proud of at the end of summer after all the work i did to pay for it.

Check garage sales too. My friend got a '78 Motobecane for $12. He spent $50 on it to get it running, and it's worked great for a year.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a little moped or motorcycle to ride around and save myself some gas money and keep miles off my truck. They'd be a lot of fun, but eh, I like living a lot more and don't want to risk it since I've already dropped two years of tuition and lots of truck, gas, insurance, and mod money.

There are some great off brand mopeds worth looking at. Buy a used one...they're a steal usually.

You look like a fag when you are riding a moped but after filling the tank up for $3 with preium they look like a better mode of transportation. I have a 2001 hyosung and i avarage 75 mpg and it tops out about 40 mph.

I would check all the trader mags... should be able to get a small motorcycle or moped for fractions on the dollar with almost no miles.

A suprisingly small proportion of "riders" actually put more than 1000 miles on a bike every year.

You should be able to find something good for less $$$ than you think. Rememeber, everyone thinks THEIR motorized two-wheeler is worth 40% more than it really is..

Sounds sweet. They are quite good on the octane. Sounds like the truck will be looking & running great man. Good luck with the work.

When I was about 12, my grandparents spent a summer in France. They came back with a gift for my younger brother and I, a nice shiny pea-green Peugeot moped. It was rather "stout" compared to the typical Togos and smaller ones you used to see around, and had fold out baskets on both sides for hauling groceries and stuff. My brother and I rode that thing around town for years until we turned 16 and got our licenses. It was basically our "urban ATV" since all we did was take it down into the woods, jump homemade ramps, get it stuck in the creek, etc. On the road, she would easily hit 40mph on level ground, a little slower when headed up.

It sits in our garage now with a busted brake cable and hasnt been started in over a year. I'm sure with a little work and a couple of tough pedals it would fire right up. With the price of gas I need to get it going again for around town errands.
