they sent you the antenna too i hope

Thanks for the quick response I was outside pulling the dash apart. Yea they sent the antenna does that go on the passenger side outlet and the exsisting one is left off? Theres already two ant. wires plugged in. I was going to put in in tonight aside from working in the dark with the flashlight but thought I'd call my local dealer and ask if they can do the reprogramming or just use up my onstar min's and go from there. Thanks for all your guidance. The online vendor just needed my vin# and they were able to get the module without a problem.

your module should have 3 connectors, 2 for the 2 antenna wires and 1 for the bluetooth antenna. the antenna actually goes on the middle lower and the 2 antenna wires that are already there plug in also

Sorry for the glimmer of hope but after paying for the reprogramming I was told that the module I rec. was not bluetooth ready and that wasnt good it is basicly the same as the original with a different #. I called the vendor I got it from before I went and they told me there was no problem it was just an updated part. Then after hearing about my wasted day when I returned he apoligised and said that he would make it right. So now over the next couple of days there should be a few overnight shipment between his supplier and him, then he'll overnight the new one to me...then I ship the usless one back to him. Sounds like a pain to me but it's better then a $260. paperweight on my counter. Then when I got home and checked the forum I found out that I would have known if I wasnt in such a big rush because the bluetooth module has three ant. prongs Sorry for the rant but I'm a bit P.O'D

Thanks

Hope is still alive until all possibilities are exhausted :rollin:

I had my truck into a local dealership earlier this week (not the one i purchased it from) to get a rattle in the headliner fixed. I swung by the parts department and asked about this very problem. They looked at me like I was on crack. The only answer theyy would give me is "i dont think it would work" without even thinking about it. weak.

It's enthusiasm like this that removes all wonder why the Big 3 are in the trouble they're currently experiencing... With Plants and Dealerships closing everywhere, I would think that the mindset would be: "Gee, if I can make one sale and one happy customer today, I may still have a job tomorrow!" Apparently this guy wasn't that concerned... Pathetic!

yep, it's in and working great! Same sound quality as the OnStar handsfree. I don't miss OnStar, but then again, I never had it on any vehicle prior to this one, don't have it on any of our other vehicles, and didn't use the year it was activated in the truck! So, for me, the OnStar module was just useless weight (the BlueSTAR Module weighs less, so I'm sure there is an added advantage of better gas mileage and faster starts as well!)

I'm working on Chris @ CoSTAR to develop a replacement kit for the XM module that will fully integrate HD radio into the factory HU! I'm all about the free services and hate any kind of subscription service!

Does the blue star product lower the speed of the ac fans and mute the radio the way the factory unit does?

I never noticed the A/C blower slowing before (even with OnStar), I'll have to check that, but it does mute the stereo when you have an incoming call or initiate an out going call. It will utilize the voice commands of your cell phone as well, so if you have voice dial, you just push the Call Button and respond to the voice prompts.

ooooh! I hope we get some good news here soon

The hope is back! Just got back from the dealer and my bluetooth is working. The new module came right away and they sent a pick up slip with it for the other one so no shipping charges on my end. Now we'll have to see if onstar knocks it out after awhile.

Thanks again...JTS

JTS,

Did you get your module from your dealer? I've had mine on order from GMPartsDirect since April 3rd...Just curious. Also, did your dealer follow Lee's instructions or print out their own for setting it up and getting Onstar to work?

Follow-up: Yes, the fan blower for the A/C does lower when making or receiving a call using the BlueSTAR handsfree kit.

    • New member here. I am researching a read-first event-recorder concept for late-model GM V8 trucks. This is not a sales post. There is no product link, price, preorder, or mailing list. I am trying to determine whether the underlying problem is real before building anything.   Has your truck ever had a brief problem such as: - rough running or a momentary misfire - an oil-pressure warning or unusual pressure event - reduced power or a brief stall - a U-code or lost-communication problem - a symptom that disappeared before the dealer or independent shop could reproduce it   If so, I would appreciate the following details: - year, model, engine, and mileage - what happened and under what conditions - whether a DTC and useful freeze-frame data were stored - whether the shop was able to reproduce it - what the eventual confirmed repair was, if known - what additional information would have helped the diagnosis   The concept being evaluated is a removable leave-in recorder that continuously retains a rolling window from before and after an event. It would not tune, reflash, clear codes, or change the vehicle calibration.   I am also not claiming that it could predict lifter failure or see every internal ECM variable.   The real question is whether continuous event history would add enough useful evidence beyond freeze frame, GDS2, and existing scan tools — or whether it would simply be another unnecessary gadget.   For owners and technicians, which problem would make something like this genuinely useful: 1. intermittent misfire or AFM/DFM-related behavior 2. oil-pressure events 3. lost communication or electrical faults 4. none of the above Please be blunt. Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback.
    • No tears over the SLE and SLT trim levels disappearing but I kind of loathe the "Elevation" name. It's a truck--skip the elegance.   The slab-dashboard design is decidedly different. Almost has a Hummer flavor to it. "Professional Grade" seems to be leaning very white-collar, tech-driven these days moreso than blue-collar, functional design.   The Silverado would be my choice between the two new trucks. Pleased with the engine lineup in both. The GMC is a little "too much" for a truck, IMO, and the Denali borders on ridiculous - but I do know there are buyers for luxury trucks out there. It's just not my speed.

If you have not already, we highly encourage you to bring your concerns to the attention of your local GM dealer. • - I like the outside but not as much as the Chevrolet.  They ICE'd the EV styling and it works, but I think exterior goes to Chevy on this one.     - SLE and SLT dead = Not.  Surprising.  Fits into the rest of the GMC lineup like this which (aside from Pro) matches the rest of the family.  Elevation, AT4, Denali.     - Interior.  Sophisticated Malaise era.  Why do I say Malaise?  Drawn with a ruler.  Rectangles everywhere.  Looks very premium though.
    • I may be old school. But I’ll pass. I’ll stick with the old stuff. Thank you.
