Bluetooth Options For 2008 Silverado

I dont think you can get the 25984444 module number any more. it was just the first module with bluetooth part number but within a few months after the 09 models came out they changed to this newer module number. I am wondering if it would work a little better as far as keeping your onstar since JTS1469 said both lights on his mirror are green. when we ordered the modules at our dealer we could only get the newer modules so I have not tried to install the 25984444 module. that might be the lucky part number to get this all working properly, maybe that is what they changed with the new part so you cannot install in older models

Do you know if you can order the part for a 09 trailblazer/envoy and install it in a 06 sierra? Also do you know anything about upgrading an 08 Equinox to bluetooth? I would assume the same process but I don't know where to find part numbers. Also on your new bluetooth onstar unit it has 3 antenna plugs? What does the bluetooth antenna look like?

Thanks

i know the module is different between envoy and sierra. do not know if you can do the same with an equinox, you might have to be the first one and tell the rest of us how it worked out for you. the bluetooth antenna is about the size of a quarter and plugs right into the module

Lee (07crewsierra),

Part Numbers 2598444 or 20783877 are not available from GMPARTSDIRECT. I am going to try and order them from OEMparts.

I'll keep everyone posted.

GMPartsDirect.com just informed me that the vcim part number 20783877 has been cancelled. Reason given "Part removed from order, not able to obtain, or supply". I placed this order March 19. But they shipped my the antenna. What use is this to me without the vcim? I guess I'm back to square one.

Send them an email and ask them if 25984444 is available. If the can supply it then just tell them to replace the one you ordered with this part number. The quicker you order the better the chance of getting it. The second place I tried to get the parts from did the same thing but as soon as they sent the confirmation I called and asked them to cancel it. Didnt leave the building yet so it was no problem!

Thanks. Funny thing is that I placed an order for 25984444 May 10 just in case the other part number was cancelled. Hopefully this gets shipped or the only option going forward is finding a used one from a wrecked vehicle. I'll keep everyone posted.

Ok Guys...OEMPARTSDIRECT and GMPARTSDIRECT both say they either can't get the VCIM or they need an 09' VIN to order it for me. I'm trying to get one to put in my 07' Avalanche. Anybody have any advice as to where else I can try...besides a junkyard?

gmpartsdirect.com just informed me that my second order for the vcim part number 25984444 has been canceled. They informed me (phone conversation) that they cannot release this part unless it by fire, theft, or collusion and will require a police report. Also, you will need proof that the vehicle originally had the requested part installed. Even if it's a 2009 model it must have this part installed from the factory.

I also learned that part 25984444 has been superseded by part number 20783877. So if you want the latest part try and get part 20783877 as the former is an old part number.

I hope someone can find a factory installed solution (not interested in aftermarket options)/work-around.

Hello,

Hope this post will help someone

I have been following this area for sometime. bought all 3 parts needed for the oem bluetooth upgrade. Installed the vcim...no onstar....no bluetooth. Parts have been installed about a week, when I was looking around for a dealer to program,

no luck there!

I have a 07 truck.They just don't want to touch it!

Well today on the way home from work, something was making a beeping noise ,so I tried it again...and it worked!

I pulled over and paired up and started calling a few people.

Onstar does not work but bluetooth does and that is all I wanted. Something onstar did must have turned the bluetooth on.

So if you just want bluetooth I don't think you need programing

Congrats Curt! I'm glad it's working for you. Can you tell me where you got a VCIM? I've been looking and lookingand I have yet to be able to find one. Thanks.

I received my module before the crackdown, so please don't ask me how or where I got it.

Now:

The bluetooth works without programming. OnStar does not, hence the little red LED lighting up on the mirror. In the "old" days, you would need the dealer to program it if you wanted Onstar. This issue is that many dealers won't touch it or can't get the programming to work. Now it seems that GM put the clamps down on this mod. Don't waste your $$$ as I did trying to get the module programmed as those few that had early success in the process are starting to see issues.

Also, the Bluetooth works even with the radio/nav off as I found out yesterday. I don't pay for Onstar and if I ever sell my truck, I am pulling this module and will put back the OEM module, just so I can see the little green led on the mirror :uhoh:

Besides, GM has bigger issues right now...
