I got the module from oempartstoday.com . My dealer couldnt or wouldnt order it for me they said it was under restriction from GM. The tech just took it back I dont know how he did it. I didnt say anything to them other then asking them to program the module for me. The way everything with this has been going I figured the less I say the better off I would be! The parts guy and the tech didnt talk and I didnt want them to. The last time I went there they told me it couldnt be done because of the wiring of some crap. So usally when people think they know everything they dont pay much attention thats why it works and I didnt have to argue with them.

What's the difference? You'd be using your Verizon minutes either way, correct? Do you have to pay some sort of fee to add the vehicle to the account?

They charge you monthly for an extra line which is around $10

How many of you guys actually pay for this? Anyone?

I'm just curious how prevalent the usage actually is.

I do and use it all the time. The only bad thing is there is no caller ID for incoming calls. The good thing is you load all your numbers into the trucks system and use voice command to dial by name OR number. If you look at the purchase cost for the GM Factory setup, if you can finally get it, now around $450. At $10 per month to Verizon that's 45 months to pay for itself. Are you gonna have the truck that long? Plus, if someone else in the truck need to make a call at the same time you have 2 different phones to call from.

Did you order the part numbers from the earlier pages OR are the items the OEMPARTSTODAY.COM sent you different?

The module they sent me after going thru some back and forth calls and giving my vin#was 25984444 the original that was in the truck from the factory was 25984445. I think there are a few modules that are the same just different numbers from GM?

Lee,

I was also wondering how you made out with the customer that had the problem after a few months. Just curious what the end result was..

Thanks,

Hey paul, does caller id work with your bluestar kit???

It doesn't show the number on the Radio display if that's what you're asking. Not sure if it would or not with the NAV Radio.

The radio displays the phone symbol and says BlueSTAR, I haven't really paid attention to the DIC, but I don't think it changes from whatever you have it set to display, i.e. I don't think it displays the phone number if that's what you're asking. I'll check while I'm out today and have my wife call me. I don't receive that many calls, normally I will make the call. I was going to refer you to the CoSTAR Forums but noticed you have already posted the question there. Also, if you haven't done so already, shoot an e-mail to their customer service, Chris was real responsive to my questions when I was researching it. Let me know what you find out and I'll do the same.

the 25984444 is the very first part number for the bluetooth vcim. the other part number I listed before is the updated number. our customer didnt want to leave his vehicle with us to try to get onstar working, he said he didnt care about onstar and wasnt going to renew after the free year was up. he said after using the GM bluetooth there was no way he was going to get rid of it and just call him if we figure something out.

I was wondering if you one light on you rearview mirror is red or are they both green

Posted

There both green for now. I'm just curious when onstar checks in for my monthly monitoring will they stay green. The urge does come to use the blue button and see if it mess's things up but then why look for trouble. I was also thinking I've heard people talking about different software in the new models like gen. 8 or 9 that I may have the newer version. The one thing I have to agree with is the way it's working I would hate to have to give it up. I still havent used any of the voice tags or the other features but the systems works great. The only feature that could be better for me is if the name showed up in the DIC instead of the number I dont remember numbers any more.

Thanks,

JTS

Seth,

I played with it some more yesterday while running around, and as I suspected, there is nothing different displayed in the DIC. I have Verizon, and my phone will announce an incoming call by name if it's in my contacts, but this announcement comes from the phone not the BlueSTAR (i.e. NOT through the stereo speakers), and if my phone's on vibrate it does not announce the incoming call. Hope this helps...

Lee (07crewsierra),

I ordered VCIM part # 20783877 fo my 07' Avalanche. Should I ave ordered #25984444, or am I good? Just checking. I'm still waiting on #20783877 from GMPARTSDIRECT.

I dont think you can get the 25984444 module number any more. it was just the first module with bluetooth part number but within a few months after the 09 models came out they changed to this newer module number. I am wondering if it would work a little better as far as keeping your onstar since JTS1469 said both lights on his mirror are green. when we ordered the modules at our dealer we could only get the newer modules so I have not tried to install the 25984444 module. that might be the lucky part number to get this all working properly, maybe that is what they changed with the new part so you cannot install in older models

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
