Remote Turn On Lead

I have finally bought an amp to power my alpine sub for my 2007 chevy silverado nbs. i was wondering what type of wire i need to use for the remote turn on lead and where should i connect it? im keeping the stock head unit. Truck = lease. so i would like to try and not kill the car

I have a 08 silverado and keeping the stock head unit too. I just finished running the amp wires on my truck today. All you need is a 18g wire would be fine. Im going to orderr today a PAC AOEM-GM1416 which is a plug and play converter between the head unit. The convertor has rcas out and a turn on lead so you can plug your rca's and connect the turnon lead to the amp. It runs about 50 or os on ebay shipped. Im mounting the amp on a board under the driver seat, no fuss.

just one strand of 18 guage speaker wire? or is there like a power wire? thanks for the info. just i already have everything but id rather not add the pac. is there a another way you know of doing it?

You want a multistranded wire meant to say, not speaker wire although its the same thing. But its a single wire. You can get it anywhere, wallmart, best buy, circuit, radio shack, etc. You have to tap into the speaker leds in order to get sound, so either what i said, or a pac sni 35, but youll then have to tap into the rear speaker leads either off the radio or in the back at the rear speakers.

This doesn't help for you as you have the amp but for anyone else searching I bought an MTX amp.

 

Has smart engage with line level inputs. I tapped into the speaker wires running down the side underneath the little plastic covers. This tap providing the L/R and also told the amp to "turn on". That is the smart engage. Not sure if any manfucturers have this feature.

 

I didn't have to by any LOC's or run wires from a fuse etc.,

 

I paid about $100 from Sonix if I recall. Powers a 10 inch sub no problem.

hey thanks to the two above. so what your saying is just take the multistranded wire and just attach it to the speaker wire going to the rear speakers and then to the remote turn on lead?

yeah see im replacing an mtx thunderlink powered sub. when circuit city did the install they didnt install a remote turn on lead for the reason you stated. its actually very nice
