Will My Truck Pull A Dodge?

Ok I'll make this an official thread! A guy at work traded in an 05 ext. cab Z71 with 5.3 cause he said it sucked at snow plowing and all this stuff...so he bought an 08 2500 ram quad cab, hemi, 4x4.....He said his truck will pull mine all over the parking lot...Will it is the question??? I think my tires being 315's have alot more traction compared to stockers but I dunno? Those of you that will reply with "his truck will pull yours cause it's heavier"....Ok what if I put some weight in my bed? LOL.....If not what do I do in order to be able to pull this dodge? I must shut this guy up! And if I feel confident enough, I will have it recorded so u guys can see it. LOL!!!!!

a lot of it depends on your gearing....you can out pull a bigger motor with higer gears, with a smaller motor with lower gears.

sounds like a waste of time to me....just smile and say "whatever", that will tick him off more than anything.

There are plenty of youtube's of all kinds of dumb@55's trying to pull one another, even some with a 1/2 going against a 1 ton dually.

Well, that's kinda pointless... just in general. And yeah, there are a lot of variables... the big one being that he's comparing a 1/2 ton vs. a 3/4 ton truck. Apples and oranges. In fact, we already have a pointless thread that this topic would have fit very nicely in.

2500vs- 1500... just a guess but he probably has some meaty tires on the thing... u have those piralles.. in my opinoin its a waste of time... dont bother hurting ur truck... prove the bigger man laugh and walk away...

Nope. From what you are telling us, I don't think it is possible. I saw a Dodge 2500 pull a dry wall truck that was sunk in mud up to the pumpkin right out, and he was on pavement and didn't even squeel the tires.

I know he's not running a diesel, but my buddy beat me in a 2008 Ford Diesel F250 by a half a truck length up to 65 mph, it sucked. Gearing does play a part and a lot of times those diesels are pretty fast. How much horsepower does that new Hemi have?

Part of the problem is the heavy 24 inch wheels. I have a similar setup as you, but I put an intake, exhaust, and a Nelson Tune. I don't have a problem beating my buddy now. It's really not that fun racing people, but every once in a while I'll race a buddy for the hell of it.

You should race him and see what happens. Let's us know what happens and we'll all know how fast those new Hemi's really are. Or you could get a performance tune first and then race him. That way you will probably beat him with no problems.

Just tell him you want to drag race instead of the parking lot crap.

In my opinion...

He has a 3/4 ton... You have a 1/2 ton.

He has 4 wheel drive... You have 2 wheel drive.

He has more HP.

He has more weight, which in this case will equal more traction.

He probably has much lower gearing than you do.

He probably has large aggressive tires which will have more traction then yours.

If I was a betting man, (and it pains me to say this),

In this case, I would bet it all on the Dodge

The two trucks are not in the same class.

alright I better not do it...I dont feel like breaking my truck OR being humiliated! I still dont see whats the big difference besides he has heavier duty shocks? The tires are skinny, has 3.73 gears in it, hemi has 345 hp I think? Whatever I will just hafta race him then but I'm not doing it till I get a few bolt ons in my truck....oh and my truck is 4x4

Dont do it, pulling has nothing to do with the truck its all about traction, weight, gears and torque if your running the same gears for the torque. Also with his truck being a 2500 his truck sits higher and when you pull he will unload the rear weight of your truck thus losing traction for you.
