Disableing Onstar

On mine if you tap it, the radio mutes, if you hold it down for a second or so then the On-Star cell phone is activated. Maybe you need to develop a lighter thumb :D

NBS has the tap mute feature, My OBS '06 didn't have it...or I could never figure it out...hmmm...

+1 Me either, i just thought it was the mute button. I never realized it had anything to do with Onstar.

I believe on the 06 models the button only activates OnStar. On the 08 models tap the button mutes the radio, hold the button until you hear a beep than speak "OnStar" to access that or if you have nav, etc. there are other speech recognition features. I believe it's documented in the Nav manual not the owner's manual.

So on my NNBS 07 Chevy, I have the steering wheel controls, but my Onstar is expired. I use the radio mute button alot. But if I don't have Onstar/hands free calling, what happens if I hold this button? I suppose I could go try it, but I wonder if anyone knows? The same goes for the buttons on my rearview mirror. What happens if I press the emergency button there?
