Strange Noise

Recommended Posts

My truck started making a buzzing noise a week or so ago. It sounds like and electric motor or something so I thought it might be the fuel pump, but its not. I got under the truck and listened and its forward of the fuel tank, but I cant tell exactly where. It seems to be completely intermittent. Here is a picture, it sounds like it is coming from that hunk of aluminum thats behind the torsion bar (what is it?).

Any idea what the noise is? Its only when the truck is running.

Your ABS is about to die !!!!!!!!!!

A new GM replacement runs around $900 bucks!

There are several rebuilders on flea-bay for around $100 bucks

or so.............

Heres a example of one company that charges $99 bucks:

When it finally dies (as in it won't stop running) just pull the ABS fuse!

CAUTION: When it dies or you pull the ABS fuse you will NO longer have

ABS brake action! Your brakes will still work tho.!

I think I'll just unplug the fuse then. If it rids me of my overactive ABS that might be nice. Am I going to see any real negatives from this?

Man got along for many many years in the past without ABS...

I personally think that some of the earlier generation ABS systems were worse than not having them at all. :cold:

Ok, so I feel like an idiot :):):D . I went and unplugged the fuse and started the truck and the noise was still there so I started feeling around, turns out the noise was traveling down the harness (2475 in the picture) from the fuel pump (had to put my ear to the tank to make sure it was coming from there) and vibrating in its holder (source of noise) on the t-case  . So now I have 250 miles to drive tomorrow with a suspicious fuel pump :D Wish me luck. If I am lucky there is a guy with one for sale at my destination that call me back before I leave from there. If not, i may be ---> :cold:
