With the average 15% used SUV prices devaluation because of the gas prices ,do you believe the new prices will have any devaluation too?

tks

No, manufacturers will just move production capacity towards smaller vehicles. Those of us using/needing or just really wanting a "truck" or "SUV" will pay what it costs to build w/ a reasonable profit, or they will stop building them. Costs, and therefore prices, will increase as the cost to build vehicles increases (fuel, materials, labor, etc), including large trucks, etc.

I'll agree that production will shift toward the smaller vehicles that get better mileage but I wouldn't count out some hefty rebates to sell the trucks.

I believe there will be rebates too...let's wait ,by the way ,when are the dealers supposed to start ordering???

You will likely see very similar prices to 08's, but with slightly better rebates. I believe there will be less tinkering with deals, because the people in the truck/suv market already know what they want, and the dealers know that.

Prices are going up,This was in Dealerworld today,And its for '08 so I'm sure it'll continue for '09.

FINANCIAL/PRICING - ALL GMC DEALERS

Subject: 2008 GMC Interim Price Increase Effective 5-28-08

Message #: PGF20080054

GMC will announce revised 2008 model year Suggested Retail prices effective with vehicles produced on or after May 28, 2008. The revised Suggested Retail prices will affect the Acadia, Envoy and the Sierra. Dealer invoice amounts will increase accordingly. Dealer discounts remain unchanged.

Dealer price schedules will be available in GM Dealerworld under Sales &/Or F&I Tabs effective May 28, 2008. Reference administrative message #VSF20040006 (dated February 26, 2004) for more information regarding this web site.

Sold order price protection eligibility dates are dictated by the customer and dealer order dates as follows:

-Customer order date must be prior to the date of the price increase.

-GM systems order date (date dealer enters in GM system) must be no more than one work day after the date of the price increase.

These units will be invoiced at prices in effect at the date of production; however, the dealer open account will automatically be credited for the price increase once the unit has been delivered.

Generally, fleet orders are invoice price protected (i.e., bid center FBC order types, VQ orders). All other fleet orders will be price protected according to the bona fide sold retail price protection policy above. Refer to the price protection effective date on the invoice.

This pricing information is intended for use by authorized GMC dealers and should not be disclosed to unauthorized persons. GMC reserves the right to discontinue or change prices at any time, without written notice. All rights reserved. General Motors proprietary information to be used by authorized GMC dealers, fleet operations, bailment operations, and General Motors wholesale personnel for GMC vehicles. This information shall not be reproduced for or disclosed to third parties without the expressed written permission of GMC General Motors Corporation.

Please file this administrative message with your 2008 model year pricing information.

It is anticipated that this pricing information will be reflected in GM AutoBook on GM Access May 28,2008.

Well the price increase blows. But I am not suprised.

I cant wait to buy a 2009 Sierra with 6.0 or 6.2 with 6-speed.

I will probably have to special order the truck I want unless i find a dealer with an exact match.

Do you get hosed on the price when special ordering through the website?

Anyone have an idea when the best time to buy?

August?

September?

October?

November?

December?

Now I'm really glad I picked up mine in '07. :D

I'm sure the price increase won't be much though. GM is hurting for business as it is already.

Every car automotive company is hurting. We have about 30-45 large SUV's and Turds at my dealership and they aren't moving. We haven't showed a Tundra in 3 weeks, haven't sold one in 4.

Turd?

Oh, on an unrelated note - Rich - How was your weekend in NC? It was a pretty good race eh! I wish they did the inversion though...

It was great.

Yeah,I wish they would invert too....I think though that the drivers sandbagged too much when they did that.

I'll be back down in October,I might even head down for the NHRA event in September!

Haha awesome! It's been years since I've been to a Nascar race. Last time I was at a race, Rusty was still driving the black Miller car.

IMO with as weak as the dollar is, I don't think that the price of trucks will go down in "dollars" maybe in value, but the same number of dollars will be leaving your bank account as before. This is pure speculation on my part.
