The Cruise Control And The Mileage ,

Did you notice an influence of the cruise control on your mileage ? Best or less ?

i have my truck 1 month ago and I use very often the cruise control (very comfortable and driving "cool"), my mileage is really correct but do you think without my mileage will be best ?

Cruise control will normally net you better fuel economy than using your foot.

The only exception, IMO, would be extremely hilly terrain as the cruise can't sense the inclines and declines ahead of time often resulting in a downshift to accelerate up the hill which burns a lot of fuel and using the engine to brake you going down a hill not taking full advantage of gravity.

I actually have seen an improvement in mileage when I set it to 55-60 and just drive. I encounter several hills, but nothing major - think overhead passes. My mileage after a week was 22.5 MPG in Austin on U.S 71 and U.S. 183. I actually used a GPS receiver to plot my driving patterns and I drive 92% highway since my apartment and work are literally right off the highway so I dont loose too much when getting into my apartment or parking at work...I know that I will be 'flamed' for driving like grandma but I dont care

In my experience, I always get worse mileage with cruise on than off. The truck does not care how fast it goes down one hill so it can make it up the next, but I do. The truck says (hea, I am 1mph lower than what I am set at and I will do ANYTHING to keep it there). I on the other hand will highball hills so that I do not use as much pedal on the way up the next one.
