Ultimate Hd/ipod/nav/bose/oem Setup?

Hi Folks, I just bought a 2007 Sierra 2500HD Classic SLT, Crew Cab, Standard Bed, Duramax Diesel. I've been looking through various forums and google, and haven't seen anyone put together a convincing ultimate setup. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Here is my current setup:

6-Disc CD changer (Delphi? will try to find the code)

Bose Premium Sound (Center Console.. I think this means Bose Sub+Amp as well)

Rear Stereo Controls

XM Radio

Onstar (Although I'm not subscribed, rather not have it)

Steering Wheel controls

What I'm looking to do:

  • Navigation
  • iPod Interface
  • HD Radio
  • Maintain Bose Speakers + Sub
  • Add 2 10" subs in the rear
  • Play DVD videos
  • No need for rear entertainment, although this would be nice if someone has a suggestion
  • Maintain -all- steering wheel functionality
  • Maintain -all- rear seat controls
  • Maintain door chime, etc

What I think will do it:

So here are my Questions (please excuse any questions that sound newbish!)

  1. Does the touchscreen NAV system play DVD video from the front screen AS-IS?
  2. I've heard that NAV doesn't work when the car is running, anyone have a link about the proceedure to disable this lockout?
  3. How hard is it to get the VSS wire spliced in, procedure?
  4. How does the above aftermarket add-ons perform? do they do what they advertise?
  5. Is there a way to install an aftermarket head unit that gives me -ALL- the OEM functionality as the OEM nav system? (so far my research says NO/Maybe)
  6. Howto install the OEM rear-seat screens? or can you only do something aftermarket?

Thanks for the help!

1 NO/MAYBE. Some of the screens play video, some don't.

2 I don't think you can program the NAV system while you are rolling. Could be wrong.

3 No clue. Try looking in the tech wiki.

4 Again not a clue.

5 Yes, but you have to buy additional adapters for each. Like if you want to keep the door chimes/OnStar, you have to buy an adapter for that. If you want steering wheel controls, you have to buy an adapter for that as well. Make sure you are looking at a HU with that option available.

6 The only rear DVD player I know of is the one in the roof, and I would assume that it isn't possible W/O some know how. The ones that are in a friend of mine's H2 are in the headrests, but IDK if they are aftermarket or OEM.

I'm not sure how good this company is but..

Do this to unlock the Nav on the road

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=81365

Try this for DVD video through the Nav

http://www.coastaletech.com/gmlockpick4.htm

Use this for IPOD with touch screen

http://www.coastaletech.com/GM_IPOD_LOCKPICK.htm I'm going with this soon.

Several people on here and on other forums have used them with no problem. I'm kind of surprised no one else chimed in here yet. I spend the most time on this one, and kind of hover around on others. But in the hundreds of hours I've spent online, I haven't heard anyone bad mouth their lockpicks. Can't say it has never happened, just I can't remember off the top of my head.

Well then I guess that's a good thing.

One of the only ones I have found online with a good price.

I heard customer service is pretty bad though. I can attest to that, I sent them an email and didn't hear from them for like a week and a half. I could have bought something else by then.
