Is Safe To Drive In Raining Conditions With Auto 4wd?

Hi, It's time if raining here, and i want to know if is it sure to drive with AUTO 4wd? or just drive with 2wd? I have no Traction Control installed.

When I push the gas pedal, I get rear over-turning on tires... So i actived Auto, and theres total control. But is it sure to drive highways with it?

Here in Venezuela there's no Velocity controls like in US, so you can go up to 180km/h into a HW..

If it is raining and you are on the highway, I would leave it in AUTO 4WD mode so if the truck starts to slip, it will engage. When it is dry again, switch it over to 2WD unless you need it.

Agreed, that is the whole purpose of the auto feature. It engages when needed. It is disengaged when not needed...all automatically.

Rainy streets is pretty much what Auto 4x4 was made for. You'll lower your fuel economy slightly, but you won't damage anything. :dunno:

I agree....that's what I used Auto4WD for in my YukonXL when I had it.

I don't want to step on any toes here but I think you all need driving lessons if you need 4wd on wet pavement.

I wouldn't want to see you guys up here with 4 inches of ice onthe roads in the winter. :dunno:

Hey man, I would want 4wd Auto turned on in my truck if I was going 180km/h in my pickup truck on wet roads. Especially if the roads were narrow and winding. Remember, there is a lack of weight in the back of the truck - at high speeds that thing is gonna have poor traction back there.

The 4wd auto should be fine - it just uses 4wd when you need it (ie - tires spinning). When you don't use it, it disengages the front wheels but keeps the transmission spinning. (at least that's what I've been told)

If your doing 180km/h in a pick up on wet, norrow, winding roads I highly doubt 4wd is going to save you if something happens. I know a two people who used to think this way unitl they got into trouble In that exact situation.

"I don't want to step on some toes here", but I will anyway. Driving in rain in auto is a pretty good idea, not necessary, but not a bad idea.
