Mobil 1 Vs. Valvoline Syn

I went to pick up some synthetic oil from Wal Mart today (cheapest price) and the Mobil 1 was $37.00 for 5 liters, and the Valvoline Syn oil was $23.00 for 5 liters :D . So it brings me to the question: is Mobil 1 that much better then Valvoline? I expected maybe a dollar or so difference, but not 14 bucks for same grade of syn oil. Any thoughts on this to help clear the confusion?

Thanks.

I use Mobil1 in mine but for the price difference, I wouldn't hesitate to use the Valvoline. It's good product.

The Super Tech Synthetic it Walmarts brand, I use their oil filters because they are a 1/3 of the price of a fram or AC filter. I use Mobil 1 in my Harley and love it. Is the Valvoline synthetic a full synthetic or a synthetic blend? The $14 price difference may be because it's a synthetic blend and not a full synthetic.

i have always went with Mobil 1 in my daily drivers. I use Valvoline VR1 race oil in my race cars. I have never had any problems with either. (that is unless something went wrong in the motor not related to lubrication.) Now that Mobil 1 came out with the 0w20, 0w30, and 0w40 that is to improve MPG i have used that. I went from 29-30 Mpg (highway) to 32-33 MPG in my wifes G6. I plan on putting it in my truck on the next oil change.

I usually use a good oil and a better quality filter...I saw a cutaway demonstration in auto mech class of a Fram vs. a Delco.....the Fram is a piece of cardboard looking material for filtration...very cheap looking...I 've never used one.

maybe things have changed since then..its been a few years for sure..but for the $10 investment of buying a 'pricey' filter vs a cheap filter,it may be worth the cutaway to see for yourself.

I think the big $ difference is the marketing budget. M1's is waaaay higher than Vav.

It is like Tide. Take out the marketing budget and the stuff would be less than half the price.
