Hey guys. i am new to this site, and just got myself a 2008 Sierra Crewcab SLT 4x4. i was wondering what was the best lift kits i can install on my truck with out cutting crossmembers. and does any lift kit affect warrenty???i was reading that the CST 4 inch says you can go back to stock, but i can't find any installation procedures on their kit.any suggestions would be great.......thanks

Most lifts offer replacement crossmembers but they bolt in. Nothing that can't be reversed.

If 4" is as high as you want to go and you are concerned with potentially returning your truck to stock, then why not go with a 3" body lift and a leveling kit? I ran this setup on my truck for a while.

Thanks for the input guys. i would love to go with a 6" go big right away so i am not upgrading in a year to what i eventually want to get too. I am wondering how dealerships like the lift kits for warrenty repairs?? Especially if you guys have already cut the crossmember brackets already?? Do they hassell you at all or whats the deal?? Thanks Again..

It depends on the dealership. Some are more "mod-friendly" than others.

Thats what i was thinking.. I will just have to go around to different GM dealers and actually see what they will do if i do raise it... I think i will be looking into a leveling kit first for the meantime, just for the reason that the "wife's" parking garage does not give me much clearance as it stands and lifting it any would cause me problems, and i do u not like parking lots in toronto at night.. especially when i go for a visit..

You'd be amazed how much higher it will look with just the front leveling kit and adding a 2 inch block in the place of the factory block. It makes a big difference.

I have a 2008 sierra 1500 extended cab and i just put on a rough country 3 inch lift. there was no cutting of the frame at all. the lift looks great, rides completely like stock, and its not too expensive. I am posting pictures under a new post if you would like to see it: "rough country 3 inch lift with pics". Rough country's customer service was great with the purchase and any questions i had when i was installing it myself. personally this is the only way i would go if you dont want a huge truck, but something bold and still able to do the bull work a truck is supposed to do.

Thanks man i checked out the pics that you got posted up and i do like the stance.. that is exactly what i am looking for.i know some of the guys on here had problems with the install of the RC 3" kit and fitment of parts... i am guessing everything went without a problem for you then.. i am waiting to here back from RC myself on this kit and to see if the have a one piece block instead of stacking one on top of the factory rear suspension block....

Back in 1994 I installed a Rough Country lift on my 1993 Z-71. It was a 3" lift, very, very similar to what is being offered on the NBS. It was a nightmare kit. It had serious geometery issues, and it caused me to eat upperballjoints like crazy. It also "fell" out of alignment constantly. It also caused my drivers side front CV Shaft to become unhocked, and the CV shaft exploded while I was 50 miles into some serious backcountry while hunting. After a year and a half of screwing around with it, I removed it and installed a Rancho 4" kit. The truck was flawless from then-on, and I drove that rig for 170K miles. I guess one thing to consider when installing an IFS lift is the following: Was the kit designed on CAD utilizing factory data? Most of the big company kits are.

thanks for the info guys... i am not quite ready for a lift just yet... i will prob do a leveling kit for now and work on some other stuff first like a nice exhaust system, intake, and rims and tires... one other question for you guys.. how is skyjacker?? are they another company to consider?? or one to stay away from?? i havn't seen many ppl talk about them on here.. i'm just wondering... thanks again
