Rear Axle Swap

Most likely not... I put a 3/4 rear end in my 99 K1500 OBS Z71... The rear end came out of a 97 3/4 ton Burb... I had to grind off all the leaf spring mount and shock mounts and re weld them in the proper locations... Once I got to the point of realizing they werent going to line up when I was trying my first attempt of installing the new rear it only took me about 2 hours to grind everything off and re weld... by the 3rd hour I was bleeding brake lines and driving the truck...

Just check out my build thread for the 14 sf rear end.. It will give you an idea of what I had to do... Who knows maybe it will line up I just want to forewarn you that it might not unless you measure it out or just line it up attempting to install it..

Gee Brian,You coulda' just got a rear-end from a 1/2-ton ext.cab with the "F44" Heavy-Duty Chassis package

(Since they use the 9.5",14-bolt,6-lug rear-end) It would have bolted right up :dunno:

Yeah, but the cheapest one that I could find on short notice was $500 and 500 miles away... This one cost next to nothing and came with money!!! haha Well not really. But it came with a 8 lug TSM Disc brake kit that I need to sell on ebay thats like NEW!!! New 4.10 gears and new axle shafts all of which I have to sell on ebay... haha

no. the 14bolt rear end that i put in my z71 came as a 8 lug but those axle shafts are interchangeable. but the only way to get 8 lug in the front is to do a sas (solid axle). and you would spend at least 8-10 grand easily with everything that would have to be specially made....

That is incorrect. On the new/older trucks, the 1500 will accept the 1500hd and the 2500 front hubs and brake disc, the 1500 will retain ALL parts including the caliper. The rear I do believe will be a swap with the exception of finding a shorter driveshaft, but I do not know this for sure.

No. was responding to the 8 lug axle shafts for a 10 bolt rear end... Check out www.accuautoparts.com Thats where I got my ring&pinion rebuild kit and axle shafts to convert a hd 8 lug rear end to a 6 lug....

Now about the drive shaft I have no clue... my old drive shaft bolted up to the new hd rear end. I just had to make a universal joint...

I know for a fact that the hd 14bolt semi floater rear end will swap over... But sometimes you never know about perches and mounts until you are installing or measuring..

From a "eyeball" prospective, it appears that the springs and shocks are mounted the same, but they could be different.

And as far as the fronts, I need a 8 lug 1500hd hub and brake disc.
