as the winter approaches, i find myself thinking "damn i have a long driveway, and shoveling it is gonna suck". so i called my old neighbor to see if he is interested in plowing the driveway for me. he said no, cause he sold his truck, but still has the plow and he offered it to me if it will fit my truck.

it is a fisher minute mount plow, with the under hood hydraulic pump, and all the peices needed to mount it to the truck it was on, which was a (i believe) 95-98 gmc 2500 reg cab. I have a 2001 chevy 1500 ex cab that i would want to mount the plow on.

is it even possible to mount a plow from a 2500 to a 1500? if so, what parts would have to be swapped out (on the plow) to make it work?

i have yet to call fisher plow with these questions, i figured i'd start with the knowledgeable crew on this site and go from there. if need be i can get some pics of the plow and mount up to help me figrue this out. thanks in advance!!

Your gonna have a tough time with that swap!!!!!!!!!

Trying to mount the underhood pump set up is gonna be a nightmare. Hopefully whomever cobbled it onto the 99 did a good enough fab job so its only a bolt on deal.

Not to mention the 99 push bar (mounting carton) will NOT work on your truck. 1500s and 2500 HDs have different size (height) frames. A new one is $500 bucks!

Now you still have to deal with the light wiring harnesses.

Hopefully you know someone who has plenty of plow installation some fab and wiring skills and a nice welder who could put it together with no problem....................

When I swapped my Western plow from my 04 gmt-800 to my 07 gmt-900 the parts alone were $1500 bucks !!!!!!!

But it was a simple bolt on installation........................

Best to stop over to http://www.letstalksnow.com/forums

and ask the pros over there

Anyhoo......That plow has to be plenty old ! Fisher quit making the underhood pump style

plows quite a few years ago (for the pickups at least). The newer ones are all using the

electric over hydralic (spl) on the plow pump units.

My bud swapped his old underhood pump Fisher from his Ford to a 99 Chevy and it was

a lot of work. But he is pretty handy and has a nice shop with all the goodies to do it

himself.

I suppose if its cheap enough and you can justify the added time and expense to make

it fit your truck. But it gets $pendy real quick if your paying a shop to do it.

As far as a new plow................Mucho bucks nowadaze!

A new Western 8 ft. std. straight blade is running $4200 installed in my area.

A Fisher $5000. A nice Blizzard with those crazy expandable wings is pushing $7000 !!!!!!

Thats why I spent the $1500 for parts and $300 labor to swap my 7 yo. Western to my

new 07 instead of spending the $7000 for that new Blizzard unit.

Anyhoo if you can score that plow for $500 and figure its gonna cost $1000 to install

it won't be a bad deal.

Just do your homework and talk with several plow installers in your area to be sure

if it can be done and how much it is gonna cost..........................
