Best For Gm

I am a Republican, and I an intend to vote that way, for no other reason than hopes that Govenor Palin will some day make it into the white house. Untill she was put on the ticket I had planned to just not vote. As to your question as who is best for GM, that is one of the main focal points that I have major issues with the McCain policy. I think Obama would be better for GM, Bush and McCain both seem to have turned a cold sholder on the issues facing detroit. I am not sure Obama would be a whole lot better, but I do preffer the Obama policy on focusing incentives to keep american jobs here at home, rather then letting the plants continue to close and the jobs get sent out of the US. I am just not sure that is intirely helpfull to GM, but I am sure it would be more benaficial to the country keep the plants running here in the states rather then overseas or in Mexico. Both of the nuts running believe in the Al Goore global warming prapaganda. Sara palin is the only one with any sense on that key issue facing the auto industry via all the crazy emmision regulations that are forcing the auto makers to continue to hemerage cash into R and D to meet the insane standards set by the Fed. GM nor any other detroit auto maker IMO, has the cash to waist on the Al Gore global waring nonsense. I am all for alterantive energy, all sorts of it, CNG, solar, wind, diesel, electric, hydrogen fuel cells, what ever we can find to get away from our dependance on forign energy sources. The thing is I am for those things for economic and national security reasons not global warming nonsense.

I think the opposite, McCain will be better for Detroit. GM's problems are costs that are a direct result of restrictive union collective bargaining agreements...Obama will work to strengthen Unions and even push for laws allowing secret balloting for Union officials (if that is the correct terminology?). GM has already pushed jobs overseas, so they will not be eligible for any Obama "breaks" for industries that don't do this (go back and re-read the Union comment, if you need more reasons why GM ships jobs overseas). Gm needs what any solid business needs, less regulation, less gov't, more free-market...Obama is a socialist (and I'm not just name calling here, nor do I love McCain) that means he will push for more regulation and more taxation of business = bad for GM!!! I also fear that both will puch for "damaging" environmental regulation that will hurt ALL car companies but trust McCain to do less here then I think Obama will...again +1 for McCain.

I see a lot of people think they know what is good for detroit, yet no one from the area has commented yet! As someone from the area, and also someone who works for a tier one GM supplier, the problem is just that.... the suppliers! we have been forced to lower our costs while GM raises them! we used to by raw stock from GM as consigned, because GM would get a much better price then we (and most other suppliers) would. GM began using china for much of its raw parts to cut costs the pushed the suppliers to buy their own parts then sell them to GM. This forces us to manage our own inventory. In some ways this is good, but in most its not for the smaller company. my company currently has over 1 million dollars in finished parts that was on order from GM, then they slowed production and canceled orders! If this was consigned parts they would have teken them but because they have to buy them from us they watch their spending. Yes its in contract that they have to take these parts but when you buy raw castings and run parts it cost $$$$ and then to not get paid for them until 6 months later makes it hard to balence.

 

I dont think either person running for office really cares! it has to come down to trade agreements, and GM to want to do business in america, its not just GM either. China makes a great offer, they have no labor or environment laws. Allowing them to work against us at penny's on the dollar. I see that as cheating, by not caring about the living conditions or health of workers. But this is also a 2 way street, unions have forced GM to seek these type of places out and build them up by always demanding more $$$$, the first unions protected workers from what is going on right now in China, now they are all about $$$$$. Michigan has a bad position in all of this, because of the union a blue color worker can live in a 250K home, have a boat, 3 cars, and anything else they want. they have lived like upper managment any where else. I often talk to a guy at GM that is in the same position as me, he makes more then 2x what I do! I would love to make more but that much is a little over paid! And we wonder why GM is looking everywhere to cut corners? because they cant stand up to the unions! GM is told what these people are going to paid and thats not how it works! I am not saying its ok for CEO's to have a 7 figure bonus either. Its the whole picture that crooked, not just one corner!

 

To fix this problem they have to look at every corner of it, by that I mean pay rates for unions,trade agreements, and tax cuts that should not be given out.

At this point in the race, pretty much everyone knows who they're going to vote for; nobody is going to change anybody else's mind, so there's really NO point in the bickering. Are you ****ing kidding me? You honestly want someone like Palin in the whitehouse. She attended 4 different colleges to get a JOURNALISM degree and every single one of those colleges had no entry requirements. She has been proved to of abused power in alaska and thats just it... she's an alaskan governor of a small town. And if you actually read about her she is involved with a radical group in alaska that wants to secede alaka from being part of the united states. And I love how people think she is middle class when both her and her husband make 6 figure salaries a year. If she somehows connects to you I'm sorry but Palin is just not fit or smart enough to be on the job.

 

 

Actually, she is the governor of the STATE of Alaska which includes ALL small towns in AK. She was the mayor of the small city she lives in. $166K is what her and hubby made last year and that is the breakpoint between middle and upper-middle class according to census data. I don't love the idea as her being president NOW but after she has a "record" I will reconsider this thought. I'd much rather have her in office then the socialist Obama or gaffe-prone Biden.
