Trouble Starting

We have a 2003 Sierra 2500 with about 75,000 miles. We have had a problem with the truck either hard to start or not starting when it's warm (biggest problem), low power, lower milage. September 2007 we took it to the dealer. They said codes P1093 and P1094 and low side fuel pressure... They replaced fuel filter and retested. Test fuel pressure high side. Check injector balance all OK. Needs injector pump. Replaced injector pump. Cleared codes.

Over the past year the problem 'crept up' but we didn't want to deal with it. Finally in August on vacation it got so bad we had to let the truck 'rest' for 4-5 hours before it would start again. We had to keep it running when we filled up with gas. As soon as we got home we took it back to dealer. They said the same codes came up. This time they said: Injection pump failure fuel pressure below specs at rails, P1093 and P1094 fuel pressure low at rails. Removed and replace injection pump coolant and 4 orings. Also replaced 2 bypass gaskets.

That was 08/08. On 10/19/08 we filled up (23 gal) at a Chevron station. Truck seemed pretty good, a little slow to start when warm but still good. Last Sunday it would not start at all. We took it to dealer. GET THIS: at first they left a message saying they were scratching their heads, the same codes came back plus some more. They were talking to the GMC rep. Today they are saying we have regular gas mixed with the diesel (just a little) and that is now our problem! That they have to drain the tank and I don't know what all but something like 4 hours of labor... Does this all sound plausible?

I really appreciate all of you that are willing to read this and anyone that could give some suggestions.

Sincerely, Jeanne

Welcome to the forum :jester: A friend of mine accidently filled a U-haul truck up with regular gas, and litterally froze up the engine, at least that is what he said. So, I guess it's possible. :)

Just talked to the guy at the dealer service. Only one code: P1094 AND he said from the look and smell of the diesel they know it's not pure diesel, they don't know what Chevron is selling but it isn't pure. So they're starting with wanting to drain all the fuel etc. THEN they'll look at the injector issue. This sounds so crazy.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! :jester:

If regular gas has been mixed with diesel, then a host of problems can develop. If there is gas in the diesel I would be going back to the Chevron station and have a few words with the manager. Make sure that the dealer keeps a sample of the fuel from the tank. It may be that when the stations tanks got filled someone accidentally put gas in the diesel tank.
