Remote Start/climate Control

Ever since ive owned the truck ive had more hot days than cold. On those hot days when i used my remote start and would enter the vehicle my air conditioner would be kickin a$$ and it would be really cool and once id turn my key the air conditioner would settle down. Well the other morning before I left for work it was cold outside (35 degrees) and i used my remote start thinking my heater would do the same thing as the air conditioner would normally do (kick a$$), well surprisingly when i got into my truck it was COLD inside and my heater was not blowing. I do have automatic climate control. So whats up with that? Does yalls trucks heat up on cold mornings?

Mine works fine,, how long did you let it run before getting in it,, the A/C will run right away, the engine has to heat up before the heater will work,, What temp did you have it set at? DAve

Um i let it run about 2 minutes (not long i know)....what temp did i have the thermostat set in when i last rode in it? it was hot the day before so i prolly had it set at 70 if thats what your asking.

Is doesn't matter what you had it set at. It reads the outside temp and automatically sets the temp. Max heat in cold and Max cool in heat.

But it takes alot more than 2 minutes to get heat, especially while idling.

Mine works fine... And being a diesel expected it to take longer to heat up and every morning I give it a minute or 2 to warm up and its perfect by the time I get in!

I love the Rear Window Defrost... Miss the middle window hatch but I think that I like the defrost on the back window more! :)

So it wont blow out any air at all until it senses its hot enough, then it will start blowing?

Thats rigth!!! I thought that was pretty sweet... I remember my other vehicles blast the cold air before the vehicle is warmed up.. Thats what I was expecting!

Mine works good in the cold. I let it run 6-8 minutes when cold and it is nice and warm in the truck when I get in.

Alright well i only tried it that one cold morning...ima give it 5 minutes or so next time and see what it does! There shouldnt be any other reason why it didnt warm up that first and only time.

Is your 5.3 the alum block or iron block? Aluminum blocks warm up MUCH quicker. My 6.0 is aluminum and I am up to operating temp within 1/2 mile of my house, even in the winter. :)

Used my remote start this morning it was 29degrees (brr) and the heat was on when I hopped in to go to work. The truck ran about 5-8 min. Love that option! :)

:sigh: ...Iron block. So far thats the second disadvantage i find with the iron block. 1. Heavy (makes me slower) 2. Not as good of a conductor of heat compared to aluminum. Why the hell they put it in my truck!? Higher Dependability?

The few mornings I left the truck out of the garage and hit the remote start it seemed to take around 3-5 mins at 26-29* temps before it kicked the heat on max. There's nothing wrong with your truck it just will take longer to heat up when its cold.

Mine seems to work like a charm and I've seen temps as low as -10C (14-15F) this year since I bought it. I also like the way that the heated seats activate while it warms up. Even if I let it run for a couple of minutes and get in while the truck is still cold, my seat is warm and it seems if my butt is warm, the rest of me feels warm too.
