dablazzin1 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 About a month ago i purchased an o8 silverado 1500 ext cab..... days later i noticed the ugly and obvious slit under the seat in the carpet in which they say is for computer acces..... i also noticed the carpet coming up and down under the dash near the fire wall..... i took to dealer and they attempted to sneak by me a few zip ties to hold it down to some wires under that area...... hell no...... they have since replaced all of carpet in truck at no cost and i am still very un happy..... looks like ass and seems to be coming up in several places already and doesnt form very tight to the floor. slomo007 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Most people probably just don't care. I mean, seriously, it's carpet...get some floor liners and move on. There are plenty of bigger things to worry about in the world than some crappy carpet in a truck.
pm26 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Most people probably just don't care. I mean, seriously, it's carpet...get some floor liners and move on. There are plenty of bigger things to worry about in the world than some crappy carpet in a truck. Could not agree more. I wish I never had a bigger problem with any car and truck than an improperly fitting carpet. What about some real issues people have, such as: rough transmission shifting vibration differential whine belt whine loud squeaks and rattles water leaks poor quality paint chipping or peeling engine problems etc, If you are furious over carpet, should those others with bigger issues be suicidal?
MarkPMB Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Saw a post before about the carpet, mine does not bother me. I never checked for the slit under the seat, I mean you can't see it right?
VMax2007 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Saw a post before about the carpet, mine does not bother me.I never checked for the slit under the seat, I mean you can't see it right? Now that just sounds wrong.
gnet158 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 You should have NEVER-NEVER-EVER let the dealer replace your carpet. They are the last people you want touching your truck. You should have just bough a can of spray on adhesive and taken care of it yourself. I've noticed the slit under the drivers seat, my 02 had the same thing. Neither of them bothered me. It's too late now so you'll have to live with it.
svensk Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Tell them you want the work truck floor; that is badass. That would rule because I have a yellow lab...
MS3DALE Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The "slit" has to be there for access,Its under the seat anyway...you don't see it unless you move the seat and look for it

I AM FURIOUS Two sided tape or velco will do the trick. I agree with most here the slit under the seat should not bother you as its " well under the seat ! " ....
jake1530 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 If it was me, and I think I am probably the most picky person I know about my truck, I would buy a can of adhesive, I know they make it just for carpets because I had the same thing with a new boat I owned a few years ago. Spray it on both sides and move on.
takevin Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Tell them you want the work truck floor; that is badass. That would rule because I have a yellow lab... Thats what i have, LOVE IT!!! Dont even have to vacuum, since it gets cleaned every week, i just wipe and pull any little dirt thats there off. Stuff is da bomb.
gdpgmc Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Yeah, carpet does suck in a truck. I don't even know why they offer it. Great for winter, no vacuuming and when you got a dog....
