i don't think its just a wire you splice into...

since it turns off the dome light, curtosy lights.

you can just put a switch in if you really want to turn it off. find the power wire going up there and trace it down and put a little rocker on it

There should be two wires leading to the dome light, one red and one white. The switch needs to be inline with the white wire.

You can put the switch on the red wire, but if you turn off the switch, the map lights can't be used, if you have them. The red wire is constantly hot so it can always power the two map lights, regardless of whether the doors are open or if the override is on. They have their own grounds that are switched by the buttons next to them. The white wire is the ground for the dome light, but it is switched by the door switches and also the override in the 95+ trucks.
