Which Performance Parts Should I Be Looking At?

Hey I am new to this website but I had a question. I have a 4.8l 06 silverado with k&n cai and flowmaster 40 series muffler. I've been wanting to get a few more horses and have been thinkin about headers, a programmer or tuner, or something reasonably affordable. So any suggestions or opinions? I was leaning towards some headers because they'd make the exhaust sound better and add a little horsepower. But is it worth getting the shorty headers? The long tubes seem not only expensive cause i'd have to buy mid pipes but a pain to install.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks!

The best improvement for the buck is a custom tune. So a search on custom tune or blackbear and you'll come up with lots of threads.

Headers may add a little in the top end, but not all that much other than sound. I doubt you'd notice anything other than a change in sound with shorty headers.

If you want to see a change other than with just a tune, go for a new cam.

To add to what everyone else is saying a custom tune should be your next mod. If your going to get headers done skimp on the shorties, they dont do much, long tubes you might get a little more out of. Electric fans might be a good next upgrade. Again, a search is worth a thousand words.
