Changing Headlight Bulbs....

... is it possible to do so without completely dismantling the front end?

I did a search, but could only find stuff for NBS trucks.

I have a 02 Sierra, is there an easy way to access them? or do I have to remove the headlights just to change a bulb

Thanks

yeah, there is the little silver bar that holds the light housing in place. Remove that and pull the light housing forward and twist the bulb until you can pull it out from the back.

Very easy actually but hard to explain.

Above each head light you’ll see a small bar that needs to be removed. It looks like a big letter L when removed, I can’t remember if it pops up or you need to move it forward?

Once that’s out you can access the headlight assembly by pulling it forward.

Next all you have to do is remove the light bulb holder by twisting it off. Be careful not be break the retaining clips (if you do it's not a big deal, I there are two on each headlight), move those forward with your thumbs while you twist the light bulb holder. The same process is use for the DRL. HTH.

It's different on the 99-02 front ends, Mike. There's an identical piece, but there are two of them on each headlight, and they are positioned vertically instead of horizontally. Instead of popping the end up, it swings outwards, and they slide up and out. Probably the worst description ever, but I try. :sigh:

EDIT: You can kinda see them in this picture (they're the stuff outlined, in case it wasn't obvious enough :sigh:)

so by the looks of it on a 99-02 front....

do the pins swing out towards the grill? or towards the windshield?

then they slide up and out?

Thanks for the help gents... I'll take a look tomorrow

based on the 'low resolution' picture ( :sigh: ), I would say they swing out to the from the the truck (not towards the windshield) and then pull up on em.

Yup, they swing out and pull up. And I wasn't taking a a picture of the lights, it was a picture my dad took of me standing in the engine bay. :sigh::lol:
