hey guys ive got a 6 inch lift and 35' tires, im going to go ahead and change the gears out and have heard plenty of you saying i need to go with 4.56 i believe, but what im wondering is when im on 4 wheel parts and trying to find the gears to fit my truck its asking me about my axle specs and i have no idea on the specs... i do have 4X4 of course and 5.3(if it helps). If any of you can help id appreciate it, oh yeah does any have a clue what my current gear ratio would be?

It's a 10 bolt. You'll need to check the glovebox for the RPO code and see what ratio you have now. 3.42s are common. I'd go to 4.10s to keep the revs down at highway speeds myself with 35 inch tires.

great, what about the "in." it ask for? it wants the bolt count and has multiple 10 bolt counts but with different "in" options. Oh yeah i have 3.42.

8.5 inch 10 bolt is what you should have under there. Stick with name brand gears. I've been told that tolerances are crap on the off brand ones. I recommend going to Jegs.com or Summitracing.com

I bought mine from Summit. (No, they are not installed yet)

+1 And go with the 4.10 gears. 4.56s will be to steep for highway driving. Plus, dont forget the front axle! That needs to have the same gears as the rear in it.

except he has 35" tires. His final drive ratio with 4.56 gears and that size tire will be damn close to stock. If you spend that much money re-gearing I would go 4.56 without hesitating with that size tire.

After calculating 4.56 gears would put him at 2100rpm at 70mph in OD. that's right about what 4.10 would do on stock tires.

I say go with the 4.56 also, I think you'll be a lot happier with it.

You are correct. Except his stock ratio is now 3.42 with the 35" tire. If he goes with the 4.10s, it should put him right around where he was with the 3.42 and stock tires.

But in general, 3.42s are slightly under-geared for a 5000 pound truck, and with the added weight of the larger tires, it'll be pretty obnoxious off of the line. I know a guy that ran 4.88s with 35s for a couple years, and did a lot of highway commuting and was perfectly happy with them.

I would go with the 4.56's.

I am running 2000 rpm at 70 now with 3.73's and 285's (32.5")

I've got 265's 31.6" and I'm at hair above 1900rpm at 70. 3.73 also

i'm also looking into switching gears likeJesse said, and i've also been on 4wheelparts.com. i'm wondering if there is anywhere that offers a "package" deal? something with both front and rear gears with both installation kits? anybody know of a place? wanting to re-gear to 4.56 with my lift (that i don't have yet  ) and 35'' tires. just looking to find one now so i'm not stressing later. thanks
