Engine Vin Location

I have an 07 chev 2500 with a duramax and was wondering if there is a VIN number stamped on the motor anywhere that is accessible. I found out my truck was wrecked and can't find out where the damage was, dealer is no help and the as#h%le I bought it from is pretending he doesn't know anything about it. Hopin the motor wasn't replaced.

Not sure if the VIN is on the engine. The block and heads would have a casting number.

 

As for the dealer, they should of disclosed this upon selling the truck. You could try carfax or take it to a body shop.

The last numbers of the vin always used to be stamped into a pad located in front of the passenger side cylinder head. I've never had reason to check any of my trucks but all my GM cars have been stamped there.

 

It's too dark out right now (and cold) to check my trucks or I would have.
