Nation wide things are bad, people loosing their jobs, people having a tuff time making ends meet. So our Governor decides to jack up the pick up rates. Nice Job Gov !! Way to help the economy out!! Really shows how much you care about your people in your home state!!! We used to pay a flate fee of $65 3/4 ton on down or $80 on a 1 ton. Not no more....

Only 2010 and newer trucks that weigh 10,000 pounds or less empty are registered based on weight, list price and model year. All other trucks are registered by tonnage.

The formula for determining annual fees for 2010 and newer trucks that weigh 10,000 pounds or less is as follows.

$.40 per hundred pounds of vehicle weight plus:

Model year Percent of list price

1-7 1.00

8-9 0.75

10-11 0.50

For example, in 2009, a 2010 model year pickup is considered one model year old. If it weighs 5,000 pounds empty and has a list price of $25,000, the fees are calculated as follows.

5,000lbs/100 x $.40 = $ 20

$25,000 list price x 1 percent = $250

Annual Fee = $270

This formula applies to a truck titled and registered on or after Jan. 1, 2009, that is 11 model years old and newer. Once a truck is 12 model years old and older, its annual fee is no longer based on the weight and list formula. Instead, it is a flat fee of $50.

I HATE Culver, probably more than you do. :dunno:

But I'm kinda ok with this. I mean the original intent of the $65 flat fee for for farmers, construction workers and the like. Drive around Des Moines for an hour and count the pickups you see, and count the number of those that are just commuter vehicles. Probably 8/10.

She just paid her Impala reg last night, and it was almost $250 bucks. It doesn't make sense that my same year truck is $65.

But talk to me in August and see what I'm saying then. :wtf:

What pisses me off about the Big Lug is the talk of raising gas taxes. THAT is a not a good idea.

At least your governor didn't have to withdrawal as a Presidential Advisor because he's under investigation for "pay-to-play." That is a huge increase, if they want to raise it, raise it a little at a time not all at once.

In my opinion what they should have done.... is use your GVW as a breaking point. say anything below 8500 GVW is "X" amount and then anything over 8500lbs GVW is considered a working truck or farm truck or what ever. Leave a regular cab truck alone period as its not a commuter vehicle. I agree there are a lot of 1/2 tons with 4 doors and 5ft boxs running around and these are really only built as a commuter vehicle to haul people. Don't lump every truck into the same catagory. And I agree trying to raise the gas tax even more??? Not a wise move....

Sweet. Be thankful you don't live in the single most corrupt state in the union. Kind of scares me that a politician from Illinois got elected to the Presidency seeing as most of our gov.'s have been corrupt, and a few are serving prison time...
