would idle speed valve throw code? is the sensor plug and play?

This is the 3rd thread you have asked about this. If by "plug and play" you mean, can you just install it and forget it then, yes. OBD1 was fairly generic in that aspect.

Is there a check engine light on now?

Do you have a code scanner?

Have you searched the internet about this problem you are having? What is the problem? Have you run compression tests on all cylinders? (this engine is tired at 200K).

What are your leak down test results?

Are the injectors original?

How much crankcase pressure does the engine have?

I see in the other threads that you have 200K on this truck. Perhaps it is time to start "throwing parts at it", but you should do some other research as well.

COMPRESSION 150, NEW PISTONS RINGS, NEW CAMELBACK HEADS, NEW VALVES, ROLLER ROCKERS, NEW CAM, NEW LIFTERS, NEW EGR, NOT THE STOCK ENGINE EITHER CAME WITH 305, NEW ENGINE HAS 150,000 ON IT. i REPLACED THE TPS NOTHING, CLEANED THROTTLE BODY NOTHING, NEW FUEL INJECTORS NOTHING, JUST WONDERING IF IT COULD BE IDLE CONTROL VALVE BUT NOT THROW A CODE? AND IF IT WAS COULD IT IDLE FINE BUT BOG DOWN AT STOPS AND IN PARKING LOTS AND ALMOST STALL BUT NEVER DOES. AND SORRY ABOUT THE SEVERAL POST BUT IT SEEMS LIKE ONCE IT GETS OFF THE FIRST PAGE NO ONE READS IT AND THIS IS AN EVERYDAY DRIVER AND NEED TO FIX IT. ALSO CHECKED CODES WITH PAPER CLIP FLASHED NOTHING!!! THANKS CODY

No need to yell, chief.

What is the fuel pressure? Did you cam the engine when you built it, and if so, what is the manifold vaccuum now?

LOL IM NOT YELLING BUT HOW DO I CHECK MANIFOLD VACCUUM? AND YES WHEN I BOUGHT IT THEY CAMMED IT NOT SURE WHAT THEY PUT IN IT BUT ITS A FLAT TAPPET CAM. WHAT WOULD MANIFOLD VACUUM TELL ME? COULD THIS BE IDLE CONTROL VALVE?

Just put idle control valve in today and i still have the same problem!!! Its not throwing any codes i checked. what could this be ive been throwing parts at it and its getting expensive. Would sea foam help? If so where should i put it?(in tank, top of TBI, pcv valve) Any help is greatly appreciated!!! CODY

New to this thread but will make a few comments.

You do not need to re post the message to keep it on the top page. Just reply to it with "bump" this will keep the original message and replys all in one place so people can read all the comments made and not be redundant.

You have so many modifications - heads, injectors, cam, not to mention even a different size engine. Have you altered the computor to compensate for all this? I am sure your present setup has different requirements and is sending different sensor readings than a stock CPU is programed for.

Bogging on acceleration sounds like timing advance isssues.

Stalling at idle could just be idle speed issues.

Sea foam though the PCV valve, but this does not sound like a fuel system problem. If this was just rebuild it should not be dirty enough that you would need sea foam.

The rebuilt engine has 100k on it and it just developed this problem..... Let me reveiw this problem when i come to a stop or am in a parking lot it acts like it wants to stall but it doesent upon acceleration it is fine runs great. Here is a list of things i did after it developed this problem, TPS, EGR, cleaned TPI, new fuel injectors, resurfaced heads and put new valves, springs, and rockers, Idle control valve, new cattylic convertor, plugs wires, rotors, distributor, checked timing, good compression, checked MAP sensor, good PCV valve........ THe only things that i can think of that i havent checked are vehicle speed sensor, vacuum, and ignition. Is there a way to check vacuum and how do i check ignition I am sick of throwing parts at it i need your guys help on this one its getting expensive and its still a solid truck. Even though im spending all this money its still cheaper then a car payment. :D Any help is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks CODY

like mentioned before I would check the timing, does it start real easy or seem like it has a dead battery and might not start?

Posted

starts sorta hard but its cold and when i redid the heads i set the timing to factory 0 degrees and it still did it this has been going on for awhile could it be cracked fuel lines the lines are stock? new fuel pressure regulator today still nothing. how do i check my fuel pressure? thanks CODY

What is the timing supposed to be, I could be wrong on this but with all of the aftermarket parts and the cam I would think that setting it at 0 degrees would be a start but needs fined tuned. I have seen them when they are just a little off that they seem to run right but then want to stall, and the hard starting makes me think that it is off a little that is why it seems hard to start, just my opinion.

that could be but the timing was set at o degrees for two years and ran fine until recently how do you check your vacuum i think it could be that or maybe a cracked fuel line. i need to fix this thank you
