hey guys i am looking for a magnaflow or any other brand drop in replacement muffler for my 08 gmc sierra 5.3

i just want to change the muffler out. i am planning to dump it right after the muffler. Has anybody done this?

Yeah, I had that done on my 2005 5.3L (now sold). It was a magnaflow single in-out oval shape, straight through, about 18" long and I was not impressed with it. It droned pretty bad at idle and while cruising between 65-75 mph. Don't know how much noise you're looking for though. Grumpy Aero Guy just posted some video clips with his new Flowmaster 70 series big block 2. Check it out.

i had a drop in replacement for my 04 titan before i traded it in for my sierra... i really liked it, it was an 18 inch round muffler and it sounded great and was super cheap... i was lookin to do the same thing again

I'd get this one, 12579. It's 5x11x12, the largest single in/single out muffler used in any of the GMT900 cat-backs. The larger the better when it comes to cutting down on drone. The inlet and outlet sizes are larger than stock (I think the stock piping is 2.75", and the inlet/outlet is 3"), but it can be welded over the stock piping.

I did.

Installed a Magnaflow 5" x 8" x 22" center/center (roughly the same size as the stock muffler) and dumped right before the rear axle. It's only a little louder than stock. If I had to do it over, I would have bought a shorter muffler to increase volume or just bought the complete side exit system here: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/display...artnumber=16746

Good to hear! I was suggesting the 5x11x22 just because it reduces the drone, but if you're not getting any with the 5x8x22, then it's even better.

Be sure to get a sound clip soon!
