Doors Wont Shut Tight

i have a 77 gmc and the doors wont stay shut..they always pop open so i have about half in gap in there..im just wondering if that would be the door latches going out or if the striker just needs to be adjusted...thanks

The doors on those trucks are known for hinge, striker and latch problems over time. Age gets us all!

 

If the hinges seem fine (doors don't sag a lot) I'd try loosening the striker and adjusting it outward in small increments. If the latches are functioning properly, it might allow them to click completely shut. Once you determine that they are working move the striker for the best fit that still closes without having to slam the door. Some good white lithium grease in the latches can help free them up. It is possible that the latches are shot.. but I would try this first.
