Evap Po446

Hey guys, I have a 2003 2500HD 6.0 with check engine light on. Code PO 446. I have not checked with the dealer for parts, never have had a good time with dealer techs. They all seem to like throwing parts that I can get cheaper at it... Anyway everything I have been finding is pointing at the evap can purge solenoid by the fuel tank. I have read that replacing it is what is needed but I have seen $250.00+ solenoids and $20.00 solenoids. I prefer to go with Oreilly or Advanced parts unless someone can prove a major issue with that or if its a dealer only part. Can someone tell me the part I need... from one of these parts houses?

The truck came from east coast with 135000 miles on it and it appears to have been a used in a construction environment. Some people have stated there is a filter on the solenoid that needs cleaning but it has been awhile since I have been up in there.. I did take the can down and blow it out but the code returns a week or so later.

Thanks

I had the same code on my 04. I had it scaned at advanced and they couldn't get the parts for me. Ended up going through my dad's work and got the parts from the dealer. I replaced the charcoal canister and the evap vent solenoid. There is an update on the solenoid that relocates the vent wherever you want. After I changed everything I cut open the canister and colenoid and couldn't believe how much dirt was in them.

Yeah that what I kindof figured. I was thinking the can and solenoid were the same thing (connected) but thats not the case. I want to just replace the solenoid but not sure of the part or price. I have seen the service note for relocating and I am not to worried about that either. It is a daily street driver in Omaha Ne.

Thanks
