What's Up With These Mirrors?

This is a truck that I am looking at. The ad says it is a 2007 LTZ, but I have not seen these mirrors before. Are they something the previous owner installed or was it an option?

Those look like the optional towing mirrors...

Ahhhh, so there probably is quite a bit of towing miles of the 18k on the clock.

Thanks!

I had my stock mirrors replaced with those kind for towing. They are a nice mirror even if you are not towing. They have the signal light in them, and they are heated. They are about $500.00 to get done.

well, also, keep in mind, that unless you live in TN, they will be a general hassle not just for you, but to other drivers. here in WA, suckers are, basically, sticking out of the lane width. not to mention parking lots, underground garages, and all of them nice concrete posts on turns in them.

As everybody has stated they appear to be the GM towing mirrors, That does not mean there are towing miles on the truck. My truck is 8 or so months never towed anything yet.

I have the towing mirrors on my truck for 3 reasons 1 I will tow with my truck so need the increased vision provided, 2 I drive fire trucks/ambulances with that similar style of mirror and prefer them to the other factory style 3 I can see better in the towing style mirrors

I made it one of the search options when my dealer was looking for my truck.

If you have never driven with that style of mirror it will take some getting used to, but try it you just might like them.

I drive on narrow rural roads every day and have never had a problem with the width of the mirrors. Note to self if the mirrors do not clear the obstacle then the rest of the truck, car will not clear so good to find out early before the damage gets really expensive.

We calls 'em Dumbo ears

As far as they stick out, I'd be losing one a week... the way I drive.

My truck came with those mirrors. Besides sticking out like Dumbo ears  , I couldn't see that well through the passenger mirror. It was a magnified mirror, and that created a serious blind spot for me, no matter how well I adjusted it. So I replaced them with the standard mirrors.

Those towing mirrors are like most other accessories...some people will like them, others will hate them.

It's really up to you.

Personally, I really like them! If you're going to tow in the future, I would keep them.
