This asking to open a can of worms. Everyone here has an opinion.

BUT I think you will find the majority sway toward Blackbear Performance then Wheatley, then it's probably a tie for third.

Can't go wrong with either of the first two. I am a proud Blackbear supporter. I have had a Blackbear tune for about 4 months now and it was one of the best upgrade I have ever done. :):D

Probably the wrong thread to ask this, but are most folks sticking w/ the original chips, or getting a spare set? (or, for those so inclined, picking up their own EFILive package?)

Robert, did you stick with the original chips, get a spare set or get your own EFILive package?

I went with the spare set of modules. I am considering EFI Live, but after driving my truck for a while, I really don't know if it is worth it. There is really nothing I want to change on my tune and I can't predict a situation where there will be. I'm not racing it so and extra tenth in 1/4mile performance isn't needed. So....???? We'll see.

I think he is referring to handheld tuners, not custom tunes.

Well, if that is the case. My answer still stands. The ONLY change I would make to it would be to add Diablo to the mix. IF I was going with a hand held it is the only opition in my opinion.

That's true, especially since you already have your spare chips. It probably only makes sense for someone comparing pricing for a tune w/ spare chips vs getting their own scanner/software pkg.

Wouldn't the EFILive setup be a good option as well? You get the hand-held, powerful software, and you can still hire your favorite expert to help you out via email? A bit more $ I think? Another option that I know absolutely nothing about is the HPTuner suite. It looks like some custom tuners use EFIlive, while others use HPTuner.

I just got a handheld about a mounth ago. I went with the bully dog triple dog gas. I know it is not nearly as in depth as a custom tune but have had nothing but positive yet. The main seller was that I like how you can always update it and it will work on gm ford or dodge. I have taking out of my truck twice and put it in friends for them to try and they both of them got one. as far as handhelds I like the bully dog the best but know a custom would blow it away.

There's a lot of us on here with our Blackbear tunes. I LOVE mine. :)

I don't have anything to compare it to, since this is my first tune. There are quite a few group tunes starting up for the summer. Depending where you are, it might work out. :D

Any more word about the EFILive Autocal unit? Pricing, release date, etc...?

Last rumour I heard on this was that the light at the end of the tunnel was approaching.

Wheatley has tuned 2 truck for me and I couldn't be happier. Customer service is top notch. But I agree, Wheatley then Blackbear are my top 2. You'd be very satisfied with either.
