Audio Upgrade And Install

Recommended Posts

Today I have purchased 4 Infinity Reference 6022si speakers for the doors to upgrade from the terrible non-bose speakers that are there. What I am wondering, is if I will get ample response out of these speakers, or if they need to be amped. As of now I don't want to add a sub, but maybe sometime down the road a bazooka tube or something. Can anyone help me and let me know if I should or should not put an amp in (I was thinking beneath the center console) and if I should, any install instructions (even if not center console instructions) would be a great help! Thanks.

(I know this is a reoccurring topic, but I have searched since lunch today and could not find any install info or steps.)

They should be fine without an extra amp, and will sound much better than the stock speakers.

There are instructions for the door panel removal in the tech wiki, and the speakers come with the mounting brackets.

So basically:

- remove door panel

- remove stock speaker

- mount new speaker with mounting bracket

- replace door panel

What he said.

One additional note, I made sure to center the new speaker location with the door speaker grille, which can be tough, because there is no common reference point. What I did was measure on the old speaker from the mounting bolt to the center, and applied that to the new speaker location. Measure from center of new speaker to center of nut/bolt hole.

This should make sense when you get in there. It will literally be putting little round speakers in large square holes. F.Y.I. I used the plastic bracket.

They will be an improvement over the factory speakers by themselves, but adding an amp will make a big improvement.
