2005 Silverado Reg cab v6 4x4 auto. Uses about 1/4 tank after 50 miles in town.

Getting about 13 mpg.

One morning after a hard rain it wouldn't start. I crawled up inside removed the top off the throttle body, and dried the distributor cap. It was cold and around midnight so I didn't get the cap back on top of the throttle body good and it threw the check engine light. Autozone said it coded as the maf and the o2 sensors. I saw where the throttle body cap was not on good and fixed that and reset the computer. I get no check engine light now but the mileage went way down.

I see where some of you blame the 02 sensors for poor mpg but wouldn't they throw the check engine light?

I just thought it was wierd that after I dried the dist cap and found the problem with the air intake that the mileage went way down. Is there something I could have messed up?

Thanks

Not if they are still in range. I have seen O2 sensors get lazy, cause driveability problems and not throw a code.
