So I am just courious on how much you all pay and for what speed?

 

I just bought another 30 days of internet for $95 at 128K (if that makes sence?) I dont know shit about the internet and my buddy said he ran a test and we are only getting about 85 to 90K.

I live out in the sticks, so its dial up at $80 a month or Wireless, I chose the latter.

 

$50 for 384K/128K real shitty,beggars can't be choosers.

I have the package deal with Time Warner, cable tv, digital phone, and roadrunner(2650kbps). I think I pay around $145 a month.

35.99 a month for verizon dsl at 3mb/s down - 1.25mb/s up.

 

Not sure were you are nick, but at 90 a month for less then 1mb/s is a complete ripoff. Of course if you live out in the middle of nowhere that would explain everything.

The speed the company advertises is just a number that sounds good to the customer, very rarely will you receive the advertised speed. Even though my neighbors is 1.5KB My internet speed is aroun 750-800MB

Wow my internet (dsl) is only $35.00 a month for 1500kbs download and 896kbs upload. But with direc tv and 2 tel and fax lines my bill totals out to $275.00 a month

That is mostly because when your leaching off his connection he might be on it also at the same time which of course will split the bandwidth. Really do what ever you want but that is a pretty #@#@y thing to do to your own neighbor if he does not know you are sucking up his bandwidth, especially these days with many providers creating a cap on it and charging for over usage.

Holy sh!t, I though they were overcharging where I lived! I pay $35 a month for 3meg down and ~1 meg up with AT&T. The cable company has something like 15 meg down but I'm not paying what they are charging. between phone and DSL my phone bill is ~$63 a month and cable with high def channels and no premium channels is $85 a month. I would bundle it all but nobody can come close to offering the same stuff for a cheaper rate.

I pay a $25 charge to my wireless provider to tether (usb cable) my blackberry to my laptop. ~1mb down, ~150k up.

That is mostly because when your leaching off his connection he might be on it also at the same time which of course will split the bandwidth. DSL is also limited by distance from the central office. Add to that the signal degredation from connecting via wireless, which will always be slower than direct connect through ethernet.

 

What city do you live in? I can probably get you setup with a much faster cable internet connection. PM me and I can check if your area is serviceable.

I think mine is somewhere around 45 bucks a month. It's rolled into my cable bill which is about $150.00. (cable / phone / internet)

 

I have Road Runner's high speed service at home and a broadband wireless card in my laptop. With Road Runner I get 21.19 Mbps down and .47 Mbps up. It's relatively fast. There are times when it tests a lot faster... today is pretty average but the up speed is lower. WTF?

 

I'd shoot my computer if I had to deal with dialup. I haven't had a modem since 1998 and I sure as hell don't miss it.
