SO I am trying to get the head unit out to install my backup camera. I have the a/c vent top piece above the HU off. I have taken the three bolts out above the glove box. Before I tear up anything I wanted to get some help. I tried searching but only came up with 06 classic stuff and not 08 nnbs. Help!

Found this with Google.

The install is straight forward:

Remove the wood trim panel surrounding the radio and HVAC controls, there are 9 clips holding it to the dash and they are stubborn, be careful not to ding the edge of the stereo when prying this off.

Next, remove the fasteners holding the head unit (10mm heads).

Remove the wood trim panel surrounding the radio and HVAC controls, there are 9 clips holding it to the dash and they are stubborn, be careful not to ding the edge of the stereo when prying this off.

Next, remove the fasteners holding the head unit (10mm heads).

This is 90% correct. you have to unbolt the hvac and aux switches below the head unit to get it out as well. I'm pretty sure they're 8mm bolts, not 10mm as well.

Yeah, you really need to exert some force and they feel like they're certainly going to break, but, amazingly, they don't.

There's nothing wrong with a stripped down W/T, you just have to dress is up some!

And if you think THAT's bad, try removing the VCIM from the dash! That thing is a royal pain to get out. I had to get a neighbor to lend a third hand for that one....
