Transmission Service Question

I stopped by my GMC Dealer and inquired about trans service. They want about 200.00 to flush the trans not dropping the pan. They say it is better to change all the fluid rather that mixing it with the old by just changing what is in the pan. What is the opinion of you guys ? I have read alot of different views on the Gen Discussion. I have a 2006 CC 2WD with 51,000 miles 5.3L engine. Just wanting to be proactive but I would hate to flush it and then have trans trouble.

Thanks,

Yes dropping the pan is always the right way to go, you will never be sure if something has broken or worn out. Plus this is the time to clean the magnet to ready it, for more collection of trans wear. I usually add an additional magnet to my vehicles too. Don't waste your time if the pan isn't inspected. Some of the older trans you could drill a hole in the torque converter ( without lockup) and install a 1/8th inch plug so you can drain everything ( ******Never attempt this unless you know what you are doing******) Aamco flushes too but not sure what their proceedure is now. Remember if you see chunks then you have issues.

Sounds like 400% dealer profit to me. I would not change the fluid in any trans without installing a new filter. Seems like wasted effort and money to me.
