Problem With Front Door Hinges

Anyone else having problems with their front door hinges making a nasty sqeeking noise? My tuck only had a few thousand miles on it when i heard a squeeking noise when closing the doors. I lubed them and it went away for a few days then returned. Had the truck at the dealers for a recall on the washer fluid heater so i had them look at the squeeking doors. Picked the truck up later to find the repair sheet saying they lubed the hinges and said the problem was due to lack of maintainace. That really ticked me off after i had lubed them several times. Looks to me the roller on the hinge is not moving. Any one have this happen?

never heard of that on a new truck. I would take it back to the dealership with the proof of the maintenance and show them that the roller does not appear to be moving...

I think I had a squeak back in the beginning, some silicone spray took care of that, I now have 23,000 miles on the truck. I never got around to spraying white lithium grease on them.

If the roller is indeed sticking, hit it with some penetrating oil, Marvel Mystery oil works rather well.

My passenger door did this in the cold of winter a few times. Hasn't happened since. I chalked it up to artic temperature / snow/grit/ice that got up in there.

Got my truck in December, so I also thought it was just related to cold weather on my truck when I heard it. Doesn't do it now that it is warming up outside.

If the roller is indeed sticking, hit it with some penetrating oil, Marvel Mystery oil works rather well.

I did try WD-40 on them a couple times. Maybe i will see if i can find some Marvel. Thanks.

I don't consider WD-40 a lube at all. It is more of a penetrating fluid to help clean gunked up mechanical parts or rusty parts.

Exactly! I don't even think it is a great penetrant, lots of far superior penetrants on the market that blow WD-40 away.

Definitely. I would never use it to help break loose a ceased bolt, just for minor jobs that could use a little cleaning.

My doors do that sqeaking thing too. The dealer put some anti-squeal (their words) tape on the tops of the ext cab doors. Still squeaking like it's loose. 2007 Silverado Ext Cab.

I have a 2007 nbs ext cab also....the drivers door just started doing the exact same thing about a week ago....the roller is seized....if you find something that frees it up please post...

i've had many a vehicle with > 100k on it with no "door maintenance".....never seen this happen and the truck only has 27k on it

I have the door hinge problem on front passenger door, could like be from lack of use?

The dealer just replaced the assembly under warranty today for the driver's door and lubed the passanger. The roller was siezed at 27k.

Probably an expensive little fix for GM. They had to order the part and then spray it.

The dealership also noticed a piece of trim was coming loose from the door. It was, but not enough to annoy me. He ordered that part / had it sprayed and installled under warrantly also.
