Airraid Mit Or Just Replacement Filter?

Hello, i've been searching the forum and there are a ton of mixed reviews for CAI / Replacement filters. Alot of them end up saying, we just do it for looks. I can't find crap online for performance dyno's actually showing any increase in HP / TQ on my 2003 5.3L Silverado.

So I was thinking CAI is a wash, and I'm pretty sure that a MIT from airaid may help decrease resistance since it doesn't have any silencers in it.

My Q and debate is if the tube or a CAI will make any difference for my truck seeing how 6,000 rpm's will only be scene either doing a burnout or at the strip.

Looks and sound difference are where you are going to see the most difference with the MIT or a CAI. For me the price of the CAI was not worth it. I have a MIT and a drop in filter.

You are on track with your thinking. Wide open throttle is the only place a tube/cai are going to help hp/torque numbers.

Is it worth it??? For you to decide. If you want that 5 extra hp or so and the more aggressive sound, then yes.

Reason i'm looking to upgrade is because i'll soon be getting a BB performance tune and i already have cat-back stright's. I recently got a nice chunk of change from the govt, and the bit i set off to the side to burn needs to go vroom or bang.

Acording to K&N they have 2 kits for your truck. The FIPK they say gives a 2003, 5.3 Silverado 9.11HP @ 5352RPM. The 77kit (which looks the same as the FIPK in the pic) gives you 8.22HP @ 5067RPM. This is off of www.knfilters.com. It doesn't give you a figure for the drop in filters. I'm not sure about their competition. I know guys that have ran them and have recieved a bit of an increase in fuel mileage and can "feel the difference."

Okay, time to repeat my first rule for buying performance parts: Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER, EVER, EVER believe dyno numbers provided by someone who's trying to sell you something.

I just did the home depot ABS pipe for the mid tube. After arguing with fitment for a little bit and alot of cutting, it fits great. I got the idea from a previous thread on here about cold air intakes and it was a link to another site. 30 bucks total. A nice little growl at 2200 rpm and some throttle response that will probably go away when the computer learns everything. I didnt even change the air filter

got any pics? Where did you find the ABS pipe @ Home Depot? I looked today for some (I have my parts list to do this when I get my AEM DryFlow filter this week) but couldn't find it, all I could find was white PVC. Is it the black or white pipe? What's the thread you got your idea from?
