Navigation Radio Not Working

Hey fellas :omg:

I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced the following issue. My truck sat for about three weeks without having been driven. Of course the battery died (both of them, actually) and I had to charge them up. It took a couple cycles, but the batteries finally took the charge and they're working fine. The issue is that the navigation radio won't start up. There's just a black screen--doesn't seem to be getting any power at all. What's the problem here? Did I trigger the anti-theft system or something? Any insight would be appreciated :dunno:

Not positive, but I thought the radio would have "Locked" on the screen.

All GM trucks went with VIN controlled security for radio systems in 2003. You should never left your vehicle sitting for three weeks without a battery tender to keep the battery fully charged. Three full discharge cycles will kill a lead acid battery.

the radio in you truck has the vin number programmed in it that it compares to the one programmed into the BCM so it will not go into theft lock unless plugged into a different vehicle

Turn off ALL ELECTRICAL things...AC...Radio/NAV..etc..etc

Disconnect BOTH battery cables...

Touch them together to discharge the capacitors.

Reinstall the cables, connecting the NEGATIVE cable LAST.

Start truck...turn on Radio/NAV.

Yea, I was thinking that should be my next step, Jim. The thought of pulling that unit out, though :D

Oh, well. By the way, I have the truck listed for sale in the For Sale section, if anyone is interested.

Probably something with a working Nav Radio. :)

(Sorry, Will, I had to!)

Haha.

So I pulled the "Radio" fuse under the hood again today, and took a closer look at it (pulled it a couple days ago, too). It looked fine, so I put it back in. I started the truck up, and now everything is working. I'm just chalking the whole thing up to an electrical gremlin causes by the battery issues. Just glad I didn't have to yank the Lockpick.

No clue. Maybe another coupe.
